    If you had too...

Those are standard GE hydrowave washers. They are belt drive but belt failures are rare. Hopefully they have improved the motor/inverters as they are the high failure item in that design.

No wonder the motors burn out

The Whirlpool VMW belt drive's use a 1/4hp motor in the smaller (3.4-3.5 cu ft) capacity models and a 1/3hp in the larger (3.6-4.2 cu ft) models.

New Kenmore agitator belt drive top loader

Your right, the OP wasn't seeking opinions, my apologies, I hope you like your new machine and that you get many years of maintenance free service out of it.

New Kenmore agitator belt drive top loader

There's a private group on another appliance forum that I participate in with a thread titled "The new VMW's (or the sad replacement for the direct drive, may it rest in peace)". The thread is up to six pages long and outlines many of the problems with these washers. Tech's consider them "cash...

New Speed Queen Top Loader; what re rinse cycle Temp. options?

Yes, that would be without doing the other mod. You can buy individual terminals for the timer connector. Speed Queen part number 00188. You might want to confirm that terminal V connects to terminal R when timer is in rinse mode. According to wiring diagram and timer chart, it does.

New Kenmore agitator belt drive top loader

What a piece of junk. Very high number of failures on a washer design that is just 3 years old. I think the shift actuator will soon be the most replaced washer part in history. Almost daily requests for help in other appliance forums on these things after a year or two of use, right after...

New Speed Queen Top Loader; what re rinse cycle Temp. options?

Looks like a couple feet of wire should do it. Timer is on right side of panel, temp switch on left. Iv'e not done this mod. As far as I know, there is no wire connected to terminal R so you would have to add one. If your handy, this should be no big deal.

New Speed Queen Top Loader; what re rinse cycle Temp. options?

If instead of doing the mod I showed, you could tap into terminal R of the timer which is pin 18 of the timer connector (normally not connected to anything) and jump that to pin 3 of the temp switch, you would always have a warm rinse and normal function of the wash temp as per temp switch...

New Speed Queen Top Loader; what re rinse cycle Temp. options?

No, you would have only hot rinse, hot wash when set to cold, cold wash when set to hot, and warm wash when set to warm.

New Speed Queen Top Loader; what re rinse cycle Temp. options?

This mod would make rinse temp same as wash temp.

Anyone have a wiring diagram for the A406 washer that they can scan for me?

1/2 Horsepower and 3/4 Horsepower motors for washers

"I always assumed it was the 3/4 HP motor that was pulling most of the power on the Crosley, guess it could be the timer or something?" Timers don't use any power, (their just switches, not loads) other than the motor that turns them which typically use about 3 watts.

    New Maytag top loaders!!!

"Notice in the specs that it does NOT have "Auto Load Size Sensing Technology" Yet, in the operator manual it states: "Sensing This washer will perform a series of spins to check for load balance. During this time, a series of clicks and a whirring noise signal that sensing technology is...

    PAV5157AWW

""5 Speed Combinations" touted on the console is a mistake, unless I'm not understanding something. There are four settings on the control." Amazing what a little marketing can do. They probably count that extra rinse cycle as another speed combination. My GE claims 8 speed combinations. It...

New Speed Queen, Presoak Prewash problem

According to the manual: During the SOAK/PREWASH setting, the washtub will fill with water, agitate for a reduced period of time, pause for approximately 12 minutes, and spin out to complete the cycle.

    NEW WHIRLPOOL BELT DRIV WASHERS?!?!?

I'm not aware of the Cabrio using any type of motor braking. You got any documentation on that? The VMW's use a single phase AC PSC motor. Simply trying to reverse it's direction while running is not a viable braking method. There's a lot more to it than that not to mention that it wastes power.

    NEW WHIRLPOOL BELT DRIV WASHERS?!?!?

The GE Hydrowave models that have been around for several years use electronic motor braking and do not use a lid lock. Whirlpool had to beef up the lid lock on the VMW design as they are designed to break if forced open. The earlier lid lock design was too easy to break which was quickly...

    NEW WHIRLPOOL BELT DRIV WASHERS?!?!?

I don't see how mechanical brakes put any excessive stress on the belt. The old Whirlpool belt drives used them, older Maytags used them, GE used them. My 11 year old GE has a mechanical brake and still has the original belt. Whirlpool did have a VMW that utilized a brake band and thus, no lid lock.
