    NEW WHIRLPOOL BELT DRIV WASHERS?!?!?

That's the new Whirlpool belt drive that has been out for 3 years. It's just the latest version with some changes in programming to overcome some consumer complaints. It's a piece of junk unless they have fixed all the problems that were happening with the earlier versions. Eric

How to lubricate washing machine motor carbon brushes

By the way, there are induction motors that utilize brushes and slip rings but these are "wound rotor" type. The ones in washing machines are the "squirrel cage" type that have no physical outside electrical connection to the rotor.

Is Whirlpool making COMMERCIAL belt drive washers?

They still market commercial DD washers that meet 2007 energy standards. The new commercial line that meets 2013 standards are the new belt drive model. They also make consumer grade belt drives that they label as "commercial quality", whatever that means.

Look at what I found at Costco today

The water level is just a two position electrical switch. It does not control the pressure switch directly as many models that have the adjustable diaphram type pressure switch. The pressure switch in this washer consists of three separate switches. I don't have the wiring diagram for this...

Look at what I found at Costco today

That $1500 price tag is ridiculous. I see it online (new) at various places for around $800. Doesn't have the dual-action agitator and it has dumbed down water level control.

I had no idea HE washers worked this terribly...

It's not the manufacturers, it's the federal government, and it's only going to get worse. In May 2012, DOE adopted new clothes washer standards based on a 2010 agreement between manufacturers and efficiency proponents. DOE uses new metrics called IMEF (integrated modified energy factor) and...

Question about a direct drive washer

The gearcase has a small vent hole in the top of it. Only the bottom half of the gearcase has oil in it. I would suspect that with it underwater for a long period of time, the air would have leaked out being replaced with water. Eric

Deep Deep water level switch for Maywhirlmores.

Extra hot? You can't even get plain hot nowadays. My sister just complained about her new Roper not giving hot water. I told her she will have to turn the cold water valve off to get hot which is what she is doing now. On some washers you can't even do that cause the ATC will turn the water...

    new belt drive whirlpools

"Also what is with that what appears to be indexing tub in the new BD machine?" There is no tub brake or tub locking mechanism in these washers, thus the lid lock. The transmission is a planetary gear design. If you hold the agitator, the tub will agitate in it's place. Eric

    new belt drive whirlpools

"Senior consumers are confused with all of the electronics. If they see an agitator and dials they assume the TL is replacing exactly what they had previously" Seniors are smarter and wiser and know what works and what doesn't. The electronics are for the youngsters who are easily duped, don't...

As stated, model specific. Some Whirlpool DD's list an 8' maximum, some 6'. Direct drives with neutral drain always drain in high speed. The new Whirlpool belt drives list 8'. Older Maytag belt drives list typical 5' max. Newer Maytag Bravos and others are 8'. So, minimums are typical 34" to...

    Whirlpool washer won't drain

I would remove the motor and set it on the floor still wired up, place your foot on it and try spin mode. If it just hums, it appears to be a bad timer. There is no extra speed switch on this model that could cause this problem. Eric
