    2018 Speed Queen topload models

agiflow2 You have to remember that the prime interest when you use a laundromat washer, whether it be top or front loading, is get it done in a minimum amount of time. Some machines have about a 20 minute cycle and most only have a 30 minute one. So any front load machine at a laundromat is...

    4.1 HE Frigidaire TL

So bottom line, does it actually wash and rinse like a traditional washer? I will say that it seems sort of ridiculous to have an augur at the top of the agitator just for looks since it is not a dual action agitator.

This D & M made dishwasher was quite a good cleaner and dryer of dishes from the mid 60's thru the early to mid 70's. They held an average load of dishes and had to be loaded with at least some care to make sure the upper rack could rotate as it washed. They were pretty good machines for the...

Well, that explains the agitation action. It is more like a Philco than anything else.

Another plenty cool automatic washer from Bendix. This one I have never actually seen other than youtube videos of it washing. It looks very unique in how it washes. Somewhat like a Philco/Kelvinator/Frigidaire combination. It seems to wash like the videos of the "Thor/Healing" Australian...

You are correct, I have never seen a straight vane agitator with a scrubber cap either. Those were on the roto swirl and other agitators with the upper part of the model line up.

Whirlmore & Kenpool were usually somewhere in the middle. They weighed a ton in comparison to the DD models. Would have been great if they were easier to service. Just changing a belt was a major ordeal! I always thought them excellent at washing, but only fair at spinning out. The wash was...

Who still makes electric blankets these days?

Electric blankets are still available. Many of the stores carry them as winter approaches. Kohls, Dillards, Macy's, Penny's and probably much more. I think the last one I bought was a Biddeford, whatever brand that is. They are much nicer than they used to be, sort of terrycloth feeling and...

Whirlpool made a very well built and conceived machine from the very beginning. Sears recognized that too and had them build Kenmore. Smart move on their part and it helped Whirlpool gain control of the entire appliance market today. They always made a good washing machine and the design in...

At the risk of being called down about this, these machines were the worse pieces of s--t ever made. The capacity was incredible and they washed, rinsed and spun out fairly well. But they were so flimsy and they were terrible about walking to the end of the hoses when spinning. The dryer was...

    Speed Queen dryer

Not anymore, but I have had several in the past. I got my folks to buy a TOL speed queen washer and dryer a year before they quit making the solid tub machines. It was a handsome looking set that the consoles lit up on. It was the larger capacity solid tub and the new style dryers they used...

Hotpoint made interesting machines. In the early years they had a fluid drive and used solenoids like the old speed queen machines. Later on they became like this model with a reversing motor that the pump was attached to. Until they became GE clones, they kept the porcelain enamel case. The...

    Speed Queen dryer

They were pretty good dryers, but on the small capacity side. The blower operates by a belt and pulley and could be a source of problems.

I'll take a smooth top induction unit.

That is a TOL dryer from the 70's

Dreaming of NORGE WASHER are any around?

Losangeles The Norge timeline washers were only made up through 1958. So the chances of finding one other than one in someone's collection is slim. However, they do turn up from time to time. A matching set actually turned up over a year ago that looked like it was practically new. So keep...

This machine was probably at the beginning of the 70's. I am sure the electronic motor controls caused some problems as other machines that did this also had. Hotpoint washers of this vintage were decent machines for a solid tub machine. They would wash, rinse and spin out your clothes...
