    Australian GE Potscrubber Dishwasher

Hello Everyone, I have finally installed the GE Potscrubber in my Sydney property and it has cleaned many loads of dishes now without a problem (apart from shooting light things out of the cutlery basket - I have since reduced the pressure of the lower spray arm). It cleans and dries...

Shed update: progress to date: nearly finished

Hi Leon, Absolutely tremendous ! The signs, advertising, small appliances and vintage advertising all make it not look like a shed but rather a really captivating space. Your hard work is worth the effort. I love the Mistral Gyro-Aire fans. We had two of them when I was young. I believe...

Whirlpool Washer Agitator Shaft and Seal

Hi All, The search continues for an early Whirlpool/Kenmore agitator shaft and shaft seal. I have now contacted four USA-based online parts retailers whose web sites claimed to have them in stock only to be told they are no longer stocked. Would anyone have these two parts that they are...

Whirlpool Washer Agitator Shaft and Seal

All, Still rebuilding the 1969 Malleys Whirlpool and have a few questions I hope for some guidance on. 1. The agitator shaft is very corroded around the upper bearing. Is this OK to reuse ? Alternatively are replacement agitator shafts available to buy ? 2. The original spin tube had an...

    Australian GE Potscrubber Dishwasher

Hello aussie-plugs, Thank you for your reply and additional information. It seems the local brands liked to rebadge European appliances to sell here. Presumably being 220-240V made them ideal for our small market. Kind regards, Tim

    1969 Malleys Whirlpool Washer

Can anyone suggest where I can buy the rubber balls for the suspension rods of a Whirlpool / Kenmore washer ? Ideally also the tub cap rubber seal for a 24" machine although I realize that might be close to impossible. Regards, Tim

    Australian GE Potscrubber Dishwasher

Hi All, This weekend I installed the replacement drain pump that I found online. I had to make two spacers from timber as you can see in the photo. However, it is quite a good replacement fit. Also when the machine was transported to me, it had been dragged on its feet that were not...

    1969 Malleys Whirlpool Washer

Hello everyone, I got back to stripping down the washer this weekend. It was a challenge as it clearly decided it wasn't going to come apart without a fight. I made many attempts to get the agitator off and finally succeeded by wrapping its top with a rag and soaking the rag with boiling...

    Australian Kitchenaid KDS-17 Door Springs

Hello All, I recently purchased on Ebay two new door springs for our Kitchenaid KDS-17 dishwasher made in the former West Germany and sold in Australia. My research led me to Whirlpool part number 4160496. Unfortunately the new springs are 1 1/2" and 1 7/8" longer than the originals (they...

1964 Frigidaire Frost Proof - HELP

It's possible your defrost timer has stopped working, causing the evaporator to ice up which then reduces air flow and the ability of the whole system to cool effectively. It's a fairly easy job to replace. I had to do this on my 1968 Frigidaire frost proof.

    Australian GE Potscrubber Dishwasher

Hi Nathan, Thanks for your advice and apologies for the delay in responding. I've found a pump that I think will work. It's in the mail so fingers crossed. Funny how we all remember those Dissssshhhhhhhlex commercials from the 80s. I'm no stranger to loud dishwashers as I also use a...

@mayfan69: Thanks Leon. It's my first vintage washer so I'm quite smitten. And yes it is a 1500. I'm looking forward to having it all restored, running and putting it to work. @strongenough78: Vern here are some pics of the engine bay and original Frigidaire A5 compressor and hot gas bypass...

Leon's 'Laundry barn': progress to date....

Hi Leon, That is truly incredible - purpose built with water supply, drainage and power for each machine. The stuff dreams are made of... I'm totally in awe of your collection, especially given how few vintage machines are still around in Australia. It looks as though you have imported a...
