Let's Settle This Once And For All!

Like Bob said, down here in my part of Texas we call EVERYTHING a "Coke" - regardless of the name brand. I went to Des Moines, Iowa back in the summer on business and had to catch a flight out of Omaha. About an hour out of Des Moines I stopped for a "Coke" at a convenience store off of the...

For All You Hospital Laundry Guys

It's interesting to see the changes in hospital laundry over the years, and even the cleanliness and professionalism of hospitals in general. I come from a long line of nurses, and am amazed at how the standards in hospitals has changed. My mom used to wear her starched whites every day. She...

Made in Germany - Clean and Fresh

Henkel in the USA Henkel also bought Dial a few years ago, which makes Purex. That is about as bottom-of-the-line you can go as far as Detergents are concerned. I wish they would do more here to increase market share, especially now that Unilever is backing out of the market.

Made in Germany - Clean and Fresh

Here is a video about Henkel. This would be awesome job to have! I thought it was funny that they used an American washing machine for testing, when they don't "formally" sell Persil in the USA. Now that they own Dial, it would be nice if they would begin selling Persil in regular stores, so...

    Toploader advice

Hey Jon . . I hope you are well. It's a shame you can't use your Mieles there, but it's great that you're pursuing your education at Uni! Anyway, as an American, I've used TL machines for years. I do believe that a good front-loader is better, but you can get good results in a TL if done...

American Thrift - A Look at the American Economy in the 1950's

Budgeting I enjoyed watching the lady in the first 2 minutes of the video doing her budgeting using the "envelope system". I have heard this from Dave Ramsey before, but I didn't realize that this was something done even back in the old days. I've been attending a financial planning class the...

American Thrift - A Look at the American Economy in the 1950's

Here is a cool video from the 1950's titled "American Thrift - A Tribute to the Woman American". It makes you wonder what our economy would look like today if we still held onto some of those old values! It's a long film, but a good watch! It even has some great 1950's appliances!

What kind of machine is this (new FL)?

It almost looks like a FriGEMore, but it appears to have 3 dials and some buttons in the middle. Does anyone recognize it? http://lubbock.craigslist.org/hsh/846848327.html

    SHeets

I change my sheets once a week. I wash them in very hot water with no FS and then tumble dry them. I hung them out at one point, but with dogs in the backyard I've not done that in a while. I do prefer sheets that have been hung out to dry, however. I iron my pillowcases but rarely have the...

    Friday BobLoad® Offering

I'm impressed . . that our BobLoad thread has almost as many hits as the political and picture threads! It's amazing how a bunch of dirty dishes can bring our family together in such a bipartisan manner!<br Great job Glenn, and of course, thanks to Bob for the inspiration of the BobLoad! <br...

    Very Interesting Miele Pair

I looked up this Model number on the Miele web site, and was surprised to find out that this is only a 6KG machine! It looks almost identical to the huge American Mieles, but I guess it's close to the original. Very interesting!

    Very Interesting Miele Pair

Okay, so they state that they purchased this set in the UK, and that it needs to be "converted" for use in the US. Is it possible to just have my house wired for the pair? If so, this would be just what I've always wanted...

    Affresh HE Washer Cleaner

I bought some a few weeks ago and I was very impressed. I have hard water, and it helped remove some of the hard-water stains on the door of the machine. I also use high-quality powder detergents, I use very hot water often, and I also leave my door open until the machine is completely dry. The...
