    Samsung 240 volt Vented Combo!

Some people can hem and haw all the want on how newer machines have more flexibility etc, but there’s not much flexibility, if any at all. Usually you’ll be locked out of certain options, and when you select ‘hot’, it’s usually warm which is not true hot water. If I select hot or warm water...

    Whirlpool Washer Rant!

Jerome keeps on going on the same damn thing over and over to the point it’s beginning to piss me off. I thought I was bad when I joined the site over 8 years ago..

    Samsung 240 volt Vented Combo!

Reliability may be questionable with newer Samsung units, but definitely quicker drying times. Heat pump may be more efficient, but will need a tear down to keep the evaporator coil clean. Though a good majority of us here in the club are mechanically savvy, heat pump dryers are a royal pain...

    Double-Duty Super-Surgilator – 16mm Film

They claimed to use the ‘normal’ cycle, but I’m willing to bet they used the Super Wash cycle but didn’t show the console options since that’s apart of the marketing. They did show it in another clip in the other video, but probably selected the Super Wash cycle when the camera was off, again...

Vented is the way to go if you want reliability and quick drying times.

    Double-Duty Super-Surgilator – 16mm Film

I’d say 1978 since the Imperial Mark 18 was superseded by the Mark II in 1978.

Maytag Machines After Whirlpool Buyout - What Remained?

You couldn’t make the belt drives spin any faster without essentially having to belt them down to a concrete floor. The hanging suspension is 1940’s technology and was only meant for speeds of 505 to 525 rpm, no faster than that. Because of the slower spin speeds, Whirlpool engineered the...

Maytag Machines After Whirlpool Buyout - What Remained?

It’s just Whirlpool was skimpy and stingy after the direct drives were introduced in the 1980’s since the options became more limited. Would be interesting to compare my Mark 18 to a TOL Whirlpool direct drive from 1987 (not a exact 1 to 1 comparison since the Mark 18 consoles are on a Whirlpool...

Maytag Machines After Whirlpool Buyout - What Remained?

Personally, Whirlpool should go back to the belt drives, any other Whirlpool outside of the belt drives is junk.

    1985 Whirlpool LA7680

Also cold water washes don’t help much, either. Sometimes if it’s something lightly soiled or something just needs to be ‘freshened’ up from sitting for awhile or the ambient temperature of the water is on the warmer side, I’ll just do a cold water wash, but 95% of the time it’s a warm or hot...

    1985 Whirlpool LA7680

I still don’t understand why people think using only a table spoon of detergent is a good idea, ends up causing more problems later on. I always use a cup or more of detergent in mine, sometimes I’ll use 2 cups of detergent just to be sure. Detergent is cheap, rebuilds and repairs are expensive.

Should I get my old Kenmore direct drive washer fixed?

Direct drives can have issues with the transmission, there’s more pieces inside which can fail. Belt drives on the other hand, have few parts inside and since everything is made of cast iron, will last for a long, long time. Only things that can fail inside a belt drive transmission is the...

An Interesting Test with a New Meter

I really do wonder if you’ll get that many suds from things that were washed in a front loader (HE in general), then re-washing them in a Frigidaire Unimatic 🤔

    Even SQ has their issues

Some people can hem and haw all the want on how electronic controls offer more flexibility and such, the reality is some features are either locked out or are completely limited on certain cycles which completely negates that. When you give the user the ability to have full control from...

An Interesting Test with a New Meter

You’ll get the same results from washing items that went through a cycle in a front loader, then re-washing them in a top loading machine. Now people will know why I have a disdain and hatred for front loading washers, they will never be able to clean as well as a top loading washer.

    Whirlpool / Kenmore Washer Production 1969 - 16mm

Even when you make a decent living, today’s vehicles are still out of reach for the average person. Reason why they are expensive as hell is because of the crap people demand, along with all the crap the government mandates as well. A good way to sum it up is ‘BratFlation’ along with...

    Whirlpool / Kenmore Washer Production 1969 - 16mm

Sounds like you are one of those shills who always things newer is better, then start complaining when you have to work on the damned things because of quality control problems and crappy designs. Again, it’s kind of ridiculous to make such statements when Robert and others have personally...

    Whirlpool / Kenmore Washer Production 1969 - 16mm

Built better my butt, newer Whirlpools are having major issues from the get go. As for more reliable, that’s a completely false statement, there’s no way on earth these newer Whirlpools will be running in 20 years time, let alone 5 to 10 years time. Here we go again by going with opinions and...
