    1958 Maytag oil leak... Again

This Damn!! Thing is leaking oil again. The first bottom seal was installed in 2004, when the machine was restored. About 3 years ago, it started leaking oil again, so I replaced the oil seal (o ring) the second time. It is now leaking again. I refuse to replace it a third time. Too much work...

    Coppertone Kelvinator? Anyone know?

Those are not so bad... This fridge is a WCI Kelvinator made in 1977. It is in use in a rental house we own. Never had a problem with it, and the ice maker still works...

    1997 Cadillac Seville SLS...

I had a 1998 Deville Concours, and it was the WORST car I have EVER owned. $5200.00 and change for one repair when the head gaskets blew! I had driven Cadillacs since 1982, but after that I was through with them. General Motors JUNK!That car left me stranded more times than I can count! I am now...

    Fun 4 Free

I remember seeing this style of juke back in the late 1960's and early 1970's. They were usually installed in pizza parlors and other places that were not "clubs" or taverns. I always hated them!

MCM Delmonico Hi-Fi Stereo by JVC

Ralph, I would look for a Magnavox, if you are looking for something with great sound, quality, a changer that will be kind to your records, and a price that won't break the bank either.

Vintage Eljer corner toilet - $300 (Jackson)

The sink is attached to the wall, but sits on the vanity top. I wanted the storage of the vanity cabinet, but liked the look and size of the vintage sink. When I have some time, I'll post a new thread with all the photos of the addition.

Vintage Eljer corner toilet - $300 (Jackson)

. Did someone say "used toilet? Well, hell yes!! I added a downstairs bath to our 1886 home, and wanted a 50's look. Spent 25K on the addition, but looked for three years to find the used sink and toilet in ming green. Found the sink at the Restore here in Fort Wayne for $15.00, and the toilet...

    Need a little help here

If it fits the motor shaft, and the pulley is the same size, it should work just fine. TSC is where I purchased my replacement pulley as well, BTW. Hey Kenny! (waves)

    Need a little help here

. Remove the pulley parts from the motor, and take them to a hardware store or farm supply store. They will be able to match your parts up with something that will work. That is what I did with my Norge/Wards.

The Norge Automatic Washer Pro/Con Thread

. What it looked like when Kenny (Goatfarmer) and I pulled it out of the woods, where it sat for 40+ years. We pulled this out of the junkyard in 2006.

. Close up of machine base. I took two of these and sawed them in two parts, to make one good base. Note the heavy rust pitting on the base.

Can we start a Mid 50s to mid 60s refrigerator picture thread?

. 1948 General Electric. New paint about 7 years ago, new grounded cord, new lower door gasket.Been working great!Defrost it in the Spring and Fall. Twice per year is not bad. You will notice more vintage Hotpoint/GE fridges than any other brands. I really do think they built the best, back in...

Time to Start all Over Again...

Sorry Todd! Glad that you and your husband are safe. I will keep an eye out for vintage machines around here. Once in awhile a 1970's Norge/Wards still shows up. And of course centre dial Maytags, and KM/WP too. I am about 2500 miles from you though, so I don't know, shipping would be costly.

'57 GE Combination Fridge: The Physics of Frost?

Wow! Well, crazy Ralph. Cannot understand why the unit should build up more frost when it is full. I did not know that Larry at Modern had passed away. That is too bad! He was always so helpful, and fun to talk with. He will be missed by many people here, for sure! RIP Larry, and thanks for...

'57 GE Combination Fridge: The Physics of Frost?

Ralph, something has to be wrong with your refrigerator. I only have to defrost the 54 Hotpoint in the basement (used as an overflow fridge) once every couple years, and the 48 GE in our kitchen twice per year. I wonder if your door gaskets might be leaking?

Help! a few problems with "new" '53 Hotpoint fridge :(

I forgot something that is very important, Mom11. The power cord should be replaced with a three wire, grounded cord. That is a very important thing to do with any vintage appliance, to prevent the possibility of electrical shock.

Help! a few problems with "new" '53 Hotpoint fridge :(

. The gurgle sound is the refrigerant circulating, and is no problem. The rust on the compressor looks as if the fridge may have been used in a damp basement or something, nothing to worry about. The fins on the back will get warm, and that is normal too. We have the same model of Hotpoint in...
