    Test driving a '65 Mustang in 1985

You were probably getting at least 20 MPG on the highway with 2.56 gears at 55 MPH.

Why Modern Cars Need Master Switches

Lots of videos of electric steering wheel motor failures on YouTube.

    Electric mowers

I pushed a yellow 1970's Sunbeam single blade electric mower around until June of 1997. I got tired of fighting with the cord, dealing with the side hinged bag and its maneuvering limitations, and it's low power struggling through the thicker bladed grass I had. Also got tired of pushing that...

HOW IN HELL CAN I CLEAN A MAYTAG FILTER OUT?

Throw it on the bottom rack of the dishwasher. It'll probably wash most, if not all of the buildup, out.

HOW IN HELL CAN I CLEAN A MAYTAG FILTER OUT?

Is it clogged from Downy or water deposits? Maybe both? I use a plant based softener so clogging is a non issue. I also have a water softener so deposit buildup is also a non issue. Along with that, I have an adjustable tempering valve set to 90F which prevents any type of buildup from water...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

It still spin drains although the electric pump can't keep up with the factory mechanical one. https://automaticwasher.org/threads/opinions-needed-on-souping-up-a-1970s-helical-drive-maytag.79805/

    A806 Timer Motor

Well, damn. I don't think the pressure switch was your problem, it sounds like something is going on with your air dome pressure hose that connects between the outer tub and pressure switch. It's either clogged or you have an air leak. Try blowing air through the hose on the pressure switch side...

    Hi I'm Lincoln!

Welcome aboard, that's a really nice set. The dryer looks virtually unused! Stick around here and you'll become an appliance genius by the time you're a teenager. There's tons of valuable information in the archives by using the search feature. You'll have to find a Maytag wringer washer in the...

An Interesting Lesson About Replacing Motors

Using the proper motor makes a difference but I've had much better luck, from a longevity standpoint, with older motors. All of the motors in my washers are original, all the way back to the 1926 Maytag Model 80 wringer. Even the repulsion start induction run motor on my 1911-ish 20" ILG...

    Hello from Brad

Welcome aboard! The propane guy is correct about savings when it comes to using that gas. Natural gas is generally cheaper in most areas and worth the change over for at least the dryer and central heating. As for your electric dryer, I'd check to make sure the dryer vent is really clean from...

AOL ending dial-up internet September 30.

One friend has an Atari 800XL and another friend had a Commodore VIC-20 back in the 80's. I didn't get a computer at home until 1992. Can't remember exactly what it was now but it had a 486DX2-66 processor. Used Commodore PET's in elementary school from 1984-1988 when they phased to Apple IIG's...

    A806 Timer Motor

Nothing made today beings to equal this type of build quality, durability, and reliability. It's worth every second and every penny keeping these older machines going. I saved 4 of these sets from going to the crusher and have used one set for almost 20 years now. Not bad for a free 50 year old...

    A806 Timer Motor

No, I just cross referenced the part# to Ebay. Ebay is the sole reason we're able to keep these old machines going. God bless those who didn't throw old parts in the garbage, which is the quickest and most convenient way of getting rid of them.

    A806 Timer Motor

The electrical contacts inside the pressure switch are pitted or worn. It's a sealed unit that's unserviceable. As luck would have it, there's an NOS pressure switch on Ebay. These were discontinued long ago. https://www.ebay.com/itm/396841424486

Yes, after the washer has filled and after the machine has stopped when it should be agitating.

Maytag A500 timer knob...is this easily fixable?

Do you realize you're using a washer that's at least 61 years old? Only a Maytag! ;)
