    1972 Maytag A806 console complete

Was keeping this but prob never use it. All dates I found were from late 1971 so I’ll assume it’s a 1972 model. Was from a working machine that had major lower cabinet rust issues. Bulb missing but it’s complete with harness and power cord otherwise. The only bad terminals were on the water...

    Maytag pitman trans service

Thanks for the input, I'll use the Sta-Lube tomorrow when I button it back up, I have a gasket already and may apply some adhesive to hold it in place. I was working in 35 Deg F weather in the garage and that old oil was literally like hot fudge that was cooling down. Thick, stringy. Very messy...

    Maytag pitman trans service

Cleaned the case then cracked open the 1974 A806 spare trans I have I want to swap into my 1974 A407 that stains clothes at times. Luckily there wasnt any signs of moisture and water inside. The oil was dark brown. Trouble was it literally was like Hersheys syrup. It was so insanely thick and...

    Maytag A806 Timer

I have a complete A806 console from a -1974 machine I parted out due to extreme lower cabinet rust. I'll check what the timer is. I know it wasnt a suds saver.

    California Electricity Dilemma

" At least 20 coal-fired power plants nationwide are being resurrected or extended past their closing dates to ensure Germany has enough energy to get through the winter. " With old Vlad being a dick it looks like Germany's best option now is one it hates.

    California Electricity Dilemma

New machines versus old. i.e. plastic versus metal. There is much more plastic in newer machines in their tubs, etc. Plastic takes oils to manufacture. I rather keep an old metal machine going that uses more water and power. Recycling also uses energy to accomplish, lots of it. From processing...

    WTB! Vintage Washing Machine

gsd-dan nailed it. If you're going to buy something that old plan on going right through it if you want it to last a good many years. I strongly advise you to contact Lorraine Furniture on here and buy a restored Maytag set from him, or have him find the Maytag set you want and go through it for...

    California Electricity Dilemma

Reply #37 For the life of me I still cant fathom why VW installed that cheating software in the 09-15 diesels. Surely they knew someone would find it out there. They could have cleaned up exhaust emissions by installing the more expensive DEF system the Passat had. I think they lost rational...

    California Electricity Dilemma

All I know is Im good with the 750 miles my 22 year old Golf TDI gets if I top it off to the lip and charging issues arent one of lifes problems to me, and hopefully never will be.

    California Electricity Dilemma

Reply #21 Although NY pales compared to CA for the amount of charging stations in the state it has 3 times more than UT but UT sells more EV than NY. I think there has to be a valid reason for that because NY people are very trendy and love their toys/brands. The only article I could find about...

    California Electricity Dilemma

Seems 42% of all new ZEV are sold in CA. Im surprised UT even beat out NY! Maybe the stop & go traffic doesnt agree with them? https://www.gov.ca.gov/2022/10/19/california-zev-sales-near-18-of-all-new-car-sales-in-2022/

    California Electricity Dilemma

California will be the death of itself yet. Their ideas are well intended but they always put the cart before the horse. The electrical grid will have to be beefed up at least double capacity what it is currently, plus they'll need more power plants and sadly wind and solar arent the answer...

In your opinion, when was the true beginning of the end for Maytag?

I think had Maytag gotten on the China bandwagon very early they could have made the expensive pitman trans there for pennies instead and it would have been just as durable. I think the trans was the biggest cost in building those washers since it was so well built.

    1960 Maytag Washer transmission needed

I have a working trans from a 1964 A500 standard capacity washer but it will need oil service and new seals. I removed it from a working machine that had a rotted tub and burnt start winding in the motor. $100.00 plus shipping if interested

Rewearing clothes -- many times, never, or somewhere in the middle?

Addendum to post #13 I totally forgot about the family that lives 3 houses away the neighbors call The Klopeks. They hardly ever come out of their house, windows and shades always closed. The whole family has always been odd, parents, 3 kids. Parents are gone now and one daughter is in the...

Rewearing clothes -- many times, never, or somewhere in the middle?

Socks, tee shirts, underwear, jeans once. Work sweat shirts in cold months go 3 days unless oil, grease, or exhaust smells require sooner. Im a clean freak. Not directed at anyone here but society in general has serious hygiene issues today. Ive withstood more than my share of standing behind...

    Kroger to aquire Albertson's

We used to have Shaws here in CT but they pulled out several years ago. I did most of my shopping there. They had the best international foods aisle ever. I used to buy frozen veggies from Holland that I steamed and they tasted like fresh picked. Plus they had jarred soups from Italy you just...

Utqiagvik (formerly Barrow) AK needs an ALDI

I dont know what will be worse............. For them. The insane cost of food, or the even more insane cost of energy with this 40 year high inflation on everything to heat their homes this Winter.
