    NYT on Induction Cooking

Electric cook tops, water heaters, cars, etc are fine in theory. But our electrical grid is woefully under powered right now to get people on board en masse. Before we put the cart before the horse and tell people to ditch their gas appliances and internal combustion vehicles we need to build...

    Vintage Appliance Advertisements: Part Twenty-three

Capehart 35 years ago a friend asked me to help him with a 1930's Capehart console radio/phono he just picked up. It had a huge magazine of 78's it shuffled to load on the turn table in what was the most complicated mechanical mess I ever saw. I politely said NO. LOL

    Supply Chain Shock!

I took full advantage of the supply chain problem last Fall. Bought a 95 Tacoma 4X4 for $400.00 and repaired the frame. Got about $3500.00 into it now after a good going over. Sold my 2007 Tacoma 4X4 base model I bought a year ago for $70000.00 with 52k on it and a new frame from Toyota a year...

    Stripped hex head screw

My main concern is are you able to snug it down tight in the agitator or is the plastic stripped out? If its stripped out you'll need to go to a larger stainless steel screw. Originals look like a #10 screw as a guess so maybe a #12 or #14 may have to be used in its place.

    Vintage Toasters?

I use my 1950's Toastmaster 1B16 every day to toast my Bays English muffin. Still works great!

    Stripped hex head screw

Another option. You may have to buy a box though. I second checking out your local hardware store for them. The older the store the better. https://www.mcmaster.com/hex-head-flange-screws/

    G E Filter-flo with copper filter?

When me an mom are on the phone talking about the old days and life growing up at my house I always ask her about different things we had. At 90 she still remembers more than me at 57 !!! When the subject comes up about the TVs or washing machines we had I remember a Whirlpool with a chrome top...

Proper syringe info needed to oil Maytag tub bearing

I went to use a spare hypo needle tonight from ones given to inject my B12 into my A407 tub bearing rubber boot, it still has the old style with the oil wick in it and I figured a little Zoom Spout couldnt hurt. Between the oil being too heavy to push out the needle tip and the tip bending while...

    Pizza Night

I have a mid 70’s gas stove that’s barely able to get to 500 Degrees so I use the broil setting. I just buy store bought dough made in Tarrytown NY, Oscar Mayer thick bacon I par cook, use Bel Gioso mozz, and a 14oz can of Cento Italian tomatoes I crush by hand. Then add some Pecorino or...

    Maytag Brake Assembly Oil

A general rule of thumb...... On Maytag brake assemblies when applied is if they sound like a semi truck hauling 40 tons that just anchored its brakes and locked all its tires making a groaning noise that can be heard blocks away then its time to add a tablespoon of oil LOL. Just kidding.

    Sweet Home Alabama

Gotta love the $1652.00 a year tax on it. My parents paid $5000.00 a year tax on a 3 family balloon frame house on a 50'X 150" postage stamp lot 20 years ago in CT LOL

    Maytag A712 Is Dying

I would replace both those bearings while they're out for peace of mind. Just add a teaspoon of oil to the brake package ( SAE90?) the splines and rust can be cleaned with a coarse then fine wire brush. Wire wheel on a drill is even better.
