    Whirlpool DAA Vs. Kenmore DAA

That's a very good comparison, Henry.  I have searched eBay and unfortunately, I don't see any turquoise KA agitators with the large base. I am super grateful to Dom for sending me what I have.

    Whirlpool DAA Vs. Kenmore DAA

So the early DAA's just were aesthetically different?   Do you have the part number for the one with the large base/fins?

    Whirlpool DAA Vs. Kenmore DAA

What did they use a different shade of turquoise to differentiate the two?

    Whirlpool DAA Vs. Kenmore DAA

KitchenAid agitator I was wondering... are there two different kinds of KA agitators out there? I thought the turquoise ones had the larger base. Dominic sent me the one pictured below and it looks just like the WP agitator with the same diameter base. Not sure what this turquoise agitator...

Vibration pads You are correct. I had purchased some of those right when I got my house and noticed the issue. As you know I am a perfectionist and I figured the machine would be better off without them. I will be securing the area with a large plywood to aid the subfloor. Hopefully that...

    Whirlpool DAA Vs. Kenmore DAA

I have been thinking about this for a while now. Which is more effective in terms of rollover? The Whirlpool style agitator or the Kenmore version? In my experience, the Kenmore version seems to be slightly more effective. Kenmore also has the same style agitator that reads "triple" on the...

Plywood John, that’s probably what I’ll end up doing. What you described is exactly what happens. Even if I move the washer two feet away from the dryer it still vibrates. Would your solution still work even with a naturally unlevel floor?

Silicone If I did that it would be too tight a fit. That’s actually an anti vibration pad between the block and wall. That helps keeps the wall from getting scratched.

^ I have thought about that. Only thing is it’s a new floor and I’d rather not drill any holes into it.

    Need advice

On how to keep washer from vibrating. My home sits on top of a crawl space and was built in 1957. So the flooring in the laundry room isn’t that great. So what I thought was the solution was to put two wood blocks between the dryer and washer in opposite sides using the wall and furnace as...

What did I do to my gearcase?

^ That is exactly what I did. I just chalked it up as a teachable moment. I do have spare transmissions, so I'm not too upset. I do appreciate your input though.

What did I do to my gearcase?

I will be saving the parts like the neutral drain components and oil and chalk this up as another teachable moment.

What did I do to my gearcase?

^ This was more so a practice transmission for me. I have a few more but I’m not going to mess them up. In the future I’ll probably just stick to changing the neutral drain components and leave the original gear oil.

What did I do to my gearcase?

Inside Well I opened it back up. Looks like one of the gears had broken off. Probably was shot anyway.

What did I do to my gearcase?

Reply 13 Then I'm confused because per my video, it spins (just with a loud clunk). So perhaps the ball is in tact? As I described, turning the coupler on the transmission itself doesn't rotate freely, it will lock up about 3/4 of the way going counter clockwise. It's like the gears are...

What did I do to my gearcase?

Replies 10 & 11 Glen, I will definitely do that, I just don't know when that will be. I'll just drain it and put the new oil somewhere safe. I will get a lot of detailed photos. I do think it's possible the rack (27) maybe isn't aligned, I don't know. We shall see. Stan, I have already...

What did I do to my gearcase?

^ I’m not sure. The internals of a direct drive transmission is bearing outside my comfort zone. It just seems like the gears somehow managed to lock. If I try to rotate the coupler it will only turn a few times before it gets stuck.

What did I do to my gearcase?

So what I think I’ll do is order part 285205 and go from there. Can this be done with the oil or do I have to drain it again?
