    KDSS-21 pictures and questions

So I finally had time to clean up the KDSS-21 that I recently found and take some photos of it. Also have some questions from my last posting: - When I took the front cover off, I noticed that the lower door baffle looked like each side had either been chewed away by a mouse or gotten brittle...

    Kenmore Top Loader?

A simple solution to getting a hot/warm or hot/cold combination on a machine that won't allow it is to do what my mother does... set the control for warm/warm or warm/cold, then turn off the cold water valve while the washer is filling for the wash cycle. Or you can adjust the warm water...

    Found a KDSS-21

I'll get some photos posted as soon as I have a chance to clean it up, possibly this weekend. The seller told me that it had been his shed for two years in storage, so I'm hoping the motor not initially starting was a bit of corrosion on a relay contact or something similar that maybe a bit of...

    Found a KDSS-21

About a week ago, one of my Kijiji searches turned up a KDSS-21 about 15 minutes away from me. At first I thought I wasn't going to go get it, but then a few days went by and the ad stayed up, so I thought it was a sign that I needed to pick it up. Contacted the seller yesterday and he said it...

    Inherited Kitchenaid dishwasher help

Completely normal for the KUDS23 buttons to stay pressed when the door is opened. The "Cancel" button will un-select any of the main cycle options when pressed, and the "Reset Options" button will un-select both the "Sani Rinse" and "Energy Saver Dry" options when pressed. But all these...

wenric, are those pictures of the actual dishwasher you will be picking up? If so, I believe it is a KUDS23, the top of the line Superba model.

    KDS-18 Detergent Dispenser Gasket

I had the front panel off of my KDS-58C tonight while running a load of Christmas cooking pots and pans so I could check on the rinse agent dispenser, as I noticed the last few times I had run the dishwasher, I wasn't hearing the usual solenoid snap at the start of the final fill (more on that...

    KDS-18 fire

Phil, yes and yes. I brought the old ones with me, and asked someone working in the department to match them. She showed me that on the back of all the boxes of different sizes, there is an actual scaled circle of the size o-ring contained in the box (I believe they come two per package if I...

    KDS-18 fire

Phil, I posted back in 2013 a procedure on how I changed the o-rings in the detergent dispenser of my KDS-58C. In fact, YOU replied to it and said, "I should do that on a friend's KDS 18 as one of the dispensers leaks a bit..." Is this the same friend? Link is below, and includes the correct...

KDI-16 in new house doesn't run

In your third photo, the inlet valve is the white plastic assembly which is attached with a metal bracket and two screws to the cross member running along the front of the machine. It is immediately to the right of the "NOTE" decal. It also has the copper pipe attached to it, which is your hot...

    KDM-21 Motor stopped

Hmmm strange. Usually if it's the motor thermal cutout, the motor won't restart until it has cooled sufficiently, which usually takes some time. One other thing to try if you are handy with a multi-meter, and of course very careful, is to check to see if there is voltage getting to the motor...

    KDM-21 Motor stopped

When the motor stops, how long does it stay stopped? Is it for one increment of the timer, or longer? One way to see if it is the timer or the motor is to start a Normal cycle, then once the motor stops, hit Cancel/Drain and see if the motor starts again. If it doesn't, wait until the timer...

    Canadian 1970's Kenmore

Ah, that's too bad about the Hitachi... hope you find another one closer some day. And yes, the 500/600 series Hoovers. I think it was a 610 that was the first twin tub I was introduced to by a friend of the family who had one. I remember I used to be afraid of the spinner (actually, I was...

    Canadian 1970's Kenmore

Hey unclejohn! Good to hear from you again. Yes I still have my Hoover twin tub, although it's been a bit since I last used it. Need to get it out again and do a couple of loads with it so that the pump doesn't seize up. Did you ever find the Mitsubishi (I think that's what brand it was)...

    Canadian 1970's Kenmore

John, I believe bobbins is correct that the machine is an early 1970's. I was born in 1973, and I remember being very young and interested in washing machines, and this was the first one I remember we had. I would ask my parents what year they got it, but I'm sure they wouldn't remember.

    Canadian 1970's Kenmore

Yeah, I was figuring around $100 as well. Doubt though that he is going to drop that low... in it for the money I'm guessing. I would love to have it, but can't justify $225. Funny thing is I remember seeing this exact washing machine, but the programs on the timer were rotated 90 degrees...
