I think it is the one on the left I need to adjust, as I think the one on the right is the one I adjusted the last time for the high water level setting, as I screwed it in several turns to get the level up to the correct setting, and you can see that one is screwed in further than the center...

That's why I'm confused and why I'm posting... the screws do not move. The plate behind them does. There is more movement behind the left hand screw (the one in the center of the switch) than the right hand one though.

...but why is it still trying to agitate in neutral? Even at full speed spin, if you look at the blur of the bottom fins of the agitator in the last video, you can see them "moving" back and forth slightly, which means the spin speed of the agitator is not staying constant, but varying...

There might be multiple problems here. If the spin cam bar is not moving at all, it could be a problem with the solenoid itself or it is not getting power due to a broken wire or something other reason. But the machine shouldn't be trying to agitate at this point... it should be in neutral...

Is the washer still agitating? If the problem was related to the pinion gear on top of the drive shaft inside the transmission, wouldn't that cause agitation not to work as well?

Are you sure it is a KDS16? Your picture appears to be of a KDS18. If I were closer, I would come pick it up and give it a good home.

I'm really starting to think that there is something either wrong with the timer, or a short somewhere in that power is being sent to the spin solenoid on the wig-wag all the time. Maybe a contact that is stuck closed in the timer? This would explain the buzzing sound you hear during filling...

One thing to check for is once draining starts, does the washer try to start spinning before the timer moves an additional increment? Time how long each timer increment is... I believe they should be 2 minutes. In between the wash and spin portions of the cycle, there should be at least one if...

You mention "if I leave the lid open until the tub is empty, it will eventually spin out"... do you mean that once the water has drained completely that spinning works consistently without any banging? If not, with the tub empty of water and clothes, does spinning work properly?

Silly question, but if this dishwasher was never used, how is the wash arm support in it different than a NOS wash arm support? I'm considering getting a new wash arm support for my KDS-58, but I'm afraid that the one I get won't be any better than the one I have now.
