Soliciting comments about using a monitor top refrig. as a daily driver

Stan's CK-15... It does sound like yours may be developing a restriction; or air ingress into the sealed system. Hopefully it isn't putting too much pressure on the compressor running like that. If it's not rattling or tripping the overload it is probably OK; but it still puts more run time on...

That's cool about the 1976 Pepsi cooler. Make sure they keep the condenser fan working, and it should keep on going!

Strange fridge compressor failure - Embraco...

Henrik; it is sure helpful when you can locate the data on a wide variety of  compressor models from one manufacturer. This can also help as a "jumping-off point" for finding specifications on other less-well documented models. If a cross-reference from an unknown model to a known Embraco model...

John, and Ralph; thanks for your kind comments!   John, I am happy that you're saving some earlier compressor models.  We will chat privately about them soon. I appreciate your offer for sure.    Sincerly, David

Loud and weak fridge compressor - Vintage Tecumseh AE series diagnosis and repair...

I wonder if the very small HP models such as the Aspera mini-fridge compressor last any longer? You know; due to less stress on the internal parts being built on the same size framework.

Strange fridge compressor failure - Embraco...

Thanks you guys for the kind replies! I also hadn't ever seen this failure before. It is possible it wasn't properly connected from the factory, but I think that a too-short cable was more likely the cause. After I reconnected it, I could make it partially disengage by bumping the compressor...

Strange fridge compressor failure - Embraco...

Here is a video I did a little while ago. This is an earlier Embraco 1/4 HP compressor from a Coke machine. This Coke machine was restored by a really poor quality shop and returned to the owner with a non-working compressor. The original compressor had been replaced with this Embraco in the...

elec kinda scares me... what should i do

In reply to post 13 Sorry if it seems that I contradicted you. If so, it wasn't intentional.  Probably haste on my part.  I saw the original post and replied what I thought happened without reading through all the previous replies.

elec kinda scares me... what should i do

Bad receptacle and cord... Chris; I realize I'm repeating what has been said, but I want to help reinforce the correct advice and dilute the not-so-good advice.    There is nothing wrong with your dryer which caused this. If anything is indeed wrong with the dryer, it's unrelated to the cord...

    Vitamix blender with 500 speeds?

Thanks for your input in the Vitamix, Ralph.  It does seem sort of prototype-like. The manner in which the motor attaches to the base is very unusual. It's as if the motor studs weren't really long enough, requiring the manufacturer to custom-make shouldered, extended-length nuts to attach it...

    Vitamix blender with 500 speeds?

This blender was brought in yesterday for checking out. It belonged to the owner's grandparents; and had not been used in a long time. I have to chuckle about the "500 speeds self regulating" sticker on the blender. Was afraid it might have some hideously complex motor with a centrifugal...

Here’s one for vintage air conditioner lovers

Very, very cool!  Also love the suggestion of low fan for meditation or sleeping!  They certainly don't make them like that any more. It is still in good shape, too.   John, how does the dehumidification work?  I see what appears to be a refrigerant solenoid valve. Is there a second condenser...

1960s? Pink stack Westinghouse W/D info

Thanks for the kind words about my reply with the Frigidaire info!  Glad it was well received.   It's so true that we need to save as much of this history as we can, because it is going away at an alarming rate.

1960s? Pink stack Westinghouse W/D info

Frigidaire Hi there. The fridge in reply #3 is very interesting. That is an icebox conversion. The box its self is very likely from the 1920's. Having glass window doors, it was most likely a commercial display case in a shop, where customers could see the products inside.    The cooling part...
