Those were probably the packages that manufacturers packed in new machines. That practice was abandoned in favor of coupons.

It was the band leader Fred Waring who invented the appliance. They kept the non-removable blades in the jar until into the 1970s, which was OK for mixing drinks, but a mess with food. Then came the snap out blades in the original style jar and finally the jar with the removable base.

An engineer at Hobart took their first mixer home for his wife to try out. She really liked it and told the engineers that it was the best kitchen aid she had ever used and thus the name of the mixer and the home appliance division was born.

A former neighbor replaced hers in the late 80s. It cost a fortune and it was not a self cleaner, but it was a very limited production item by then. I have never understood why such a big house had this little range.
