I wonder if Whirlpool is in the process of dumping Sears since they are building fewer and fewer appliance for them.  Whirlpool/ Maytag, etc. haven't been sold at Sears in quite a while...Don't know why.

    Congratulations!  I'd love to have a Whirlpool belt drive some day.  It's looking great!  Can't wait to hear a report on how it runs.

I never knew Maytag slapped the Jenn Air name on a washer.  It's a shame that they had to use the Norge platform for a premium brand.

For some reason today, a couple of videos popped up on Youtube about how to increase the amount of water in an LG front loader.  Has anyone tried it, and was it successful?  Also, if your washer has Turbo Wash, is the hack really necessary?

I would definitely try and steer them toward a front loader.  Whirlpool built top loaders (e. g. Maytag) have LONG cycles times and rinse poorly.

I had that problem with my A407 until I figured out that I hadn't put any grease on the helical shaft which allows the transmission pulley move freely up and down the shaft.  When I greased it, the brake worked as it should.  You might try removing the pulley and put some grease on the shaft if...

I bought that exact model for my Mom back around 2007 or 2008 maybe.  It's still going strong.  The pump started leaking a few years ago and I replaced that.  Otherwise, it has been a reliable washer. 

The thing that struck me was the woman ironing with a purse on her arm!  LOL!  Perhaps she was taking a little demo at the Westinghouse dealer.
