Selling my Hoover A3110 Electronic 1100

Congrats on the timer, my A3110 needs a new timer too - it sticks towards the rinse portion of the dial, it will continue spinning for eternity until you move it onto the second rinse.  Another job on the to-do list, even more difficult when the collection is 200 miles away!   Jon

Beko Heat Pump DPU 8360W - Tangling Bedding into a ball

Richard, I use the normal dry setting, which is between cupboard dry and extra dry. Jon

Beko Heat Pump DPU 8360W - Tangling Bedding into a ball

I washed and tumble dried the whites today, consisting of our duvet cover, 4 pillowcases, fitted sheet, 2 bath sheets, a few t shirts, the bathmat, a couple of hand towels and some underwear,  on the Normal dry setting it dried everything fine without tangling/balling up.  I have to say that...

Beko Heat Pump DPU 8360W - Tangling Bedding into a ball

We have the standard condenser version, and have never had issues with bedding rolling into a ball the odd time that I dry bedding in the dryer. However i tend to dry most things either on the horse or on the line, weather permitting - so wouldn't be able to report any ongoing trend. Jon

Fisher & Paykel EW50 "Gentle Annie" Washing Machine 1987

Very nice, and very ahead of it's time... it's almost like it's imitating the rinse sequence of a front loader.  The profile spins are interesting too.  How long does it take for a standard cycle?   Jon

    Zanussi FJS 1597 W

This is the last of the timer-controlled Jetsystems, quite a rare version with a 1500rpm spin - a good buy by all means!

    Grundig are here!

Saw them myself at the Currys Megastore in Bristol this weekend; have to say they are very well built - the chrome touches are nice.  The top of the range model has a jet system, and little touches such as lines around the drawer to measure powder.  The doors aren't too offensive in person...

US Expat Describes The Best And Worst Things About England

Optima... It's called personal preference... given a dedicated utility room/laundry area or a kitchen, I know what I'd have anyday!  (And I didn't say anything about it being unhygienic).   Jon

    Does Hotpoint Anti-stain Really Work?

It is interesting how different manufacturers are introducing anti-stain cycles, and the different approaches are interesting - perhaps even more interesting is the correlation between these and the prevalence of mainstream cold water washing - it is almost an admission that the super-eco cold...

US Expat Describes The Best And Worst Things About England

Although it's a UK tradition, I don't particularly like having the washing machine in a kitchen, never have done.  We moved ours up to the bathroom and, although it is my main passion, it's nice not to have the laundry on view in a "public" part of the house so to say.  That, and I can sort and...

US Expat Describes The Best And Worst Things About England

I know that Edina Monsoon had a washing machine Bear in mind that most people here, if they do have a dryer, have it in a cupboard or garage as there is often no room in kitchens.  Of the people I know, most have a tumble dryer, and the majority don't have them by the washer.  This house is the...

    The Grundigs are imminent...

Exciting stuff!  Any clues on the specs of the machines they are bringing out?   They are the best looking modern washer from what I've seen on the net - looking forward to seeing them in person myself too!   Jon

My New Beko WMB81641LC Washer :-)

Congratulations Matt!  My mum has the 1200rpm version of this washer which I got for her off eBay for £90, and it is one of the best washing machines out there at the moment.  Reasonable quality for a decent price.  When I asked mum the other day if she wanted her Miele putting back in she...

    ALDI Food Market

Louis - now if Albert Heijn decided to open up over here, I would be in heaven!   (To me, whenever I visit Amsterdam that is one of the first places I go to alongside the Rijksmuseum!)   Jon

    ALDI Food Market

I won't hold up hopes anytime soon - there are some protesters in Malmesbury that even object to a Waitrose being built!!!   It is daft really, they think that it will affect the town's economy, but people (and I bet the same protestors) drive to either Cirencester or Chippenham to do their...

    ALDI Food Market

Aldi here in the UK has been a huge success, unfortunately since I've moved from having one (and a Lidl) on my doorstep, to a fairly remote Cotswold town where the nearest one is 25 miles away, I very rarely go.   The nearest to me are Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Waitrose (or the local Co-Op...

    Anyone here bought Bedding Recently...

I have only used Ikea bedding over the past 5 years and have to say it is the best value, yet best quality out there as long as you get the 100% cotton ones.   I'm not sure if they sell it in the US, but here their 100% cotton linen is sold under the "Dvala" range, and you are pretty hard beat...

    Persil Dishwasher pods

Have been using these as they were in offer in our local Co-Op on buy 1 get 2 free, and have to say they are good performers!   Jon

    New miele washer and dryer

Brochure now on the German website.   Can't quite decide whether I like the chrome or white series better! http://miele.de/ex/prospects/de/2013_04/9721%20310_Prospekt_NWG2013/pdf/all.pdf
