Review Kaz/Vicks V4600D1 cool mist humidifier

I got the solenoid valve on the Aprilaire 700 replaced under warranty as the old one wasn't letting enough water through anymore and now it's having no issue getting the RH to 32% on this 10° night. The windows are even starting to condensate...

An article that actually recommends washing in hot water!

The only towel sharing that goes on in my bathroom is the hand towel. Everything else is 1 use then in the basket for wash.  Since getting the new water heater I'm able to supply approx. 145° water to the washer throughout the fill so the actual wash is about 140°.

Sounds you don't hear when shopping on Amazon

I strangely find I'm least likely to be hit by a runaway cart if I park near the corral. Usually cuz people don't leave random carts laying around near the corral, but do in spots far from it.    If someones blocking the way I'll usually walk right through their conversation. I'll bump into...

Speed Queen if listening- Brastemp got it right

Now that it's clearly proven VMW style machines can function like WE would want them to I wonder how hard it would be to hack one into doing so. Also begs the question, if it's not the design of the machine itself (which I always thought it was) then why won't they program them to work properly...

    How Is Everyone Keeping Warm?

Your electricity is dirt cheap. We pay something around 13 cents a kWh after delivery fees etc which is rolled in with the 10 cents a kWh for electricity itself. Getting our usage lower is a practice in futility, so thinking maybe going solar would be a good offset to the usage. Gas is dirt...

Thoughts on the Goodman GMSS96060 furnace

Excellent! The first thing to go will probably be the HSI. Ours are 10 and 5 years old and haven't had any issue yet, not even an HSI. I have a spare HSI for the older furnace, the cost of an HSI for the downstairs furnace is around $50 so haven't got one for that yet. The upstairs furnace HSI...

Sounds you don't hear when shopping on Amazon

The way you talk about that department store makes me imagine how high quality shopping must've been back in those days. I truly wish I could've shopped at our Marshall Fields in its heyday. Now it's just a sad Macy's in the poorly maintained remains of something that used to be wonderful. Any...

USA made products that I use and endorse

It is surprising how hard it can be to find certain things in this area despite being so large. I think a lot of that has to do with so many things being chains so there's really only 3-4 stores sprinkled in repetition all over the area. Then the ma & pa places just carry things similar to what...

USA made products that I use and endorse

I spent the last few days chasing down places that might have any on display or admit to doing business with them (I emailed Shuron and they gave me a list of names that had ordered from them before but some places had claimed to know nothing about them!), and eventually found a guy with a shop...

    Brooklyn Time Capsule Kitchen

Agreed. There's nothing worth saving in that sh*thole besides the appliances.

USA made products that I use and endorse

Tim How are those glasses holding up? I searched high and low to find your post to figure out the brand you had gotten there cuz I want a pair for myself. I'm looking at the Ronsir Revelation in Ebony on black frame - the modernized version with the shorter lenses. And did you buy them locally...

    Tide Pod Shots!

I almost bought some Pods just for the hell of it until I looked at the price tag. One came as a sample in a box of powder awhile back and I tried it only to find one Pod wasn't enough for a full load in the SQ. Would get pricy quick using more than one per wash.

    New Tariffs On Washing Machines

I'm not sure spitting a teaspoon of water on clothes and twirling them around into a knot is innovation, unless one considers innovation making something do it's sole job worse than ever before.    I'm sure not a soul on this site would be against innovation if it meant the machines worked...

    Yet another furnace question...

The heat exchanger, blower housing and burner are likely not replaceable as specific parts like that aren't available for that furnace anymore. But common items that may fail like the gas valve, thermocouple, pilot assembly, fan/limit switch, capacitor, belt, fan motor, transformer are all...

    YouTube channel

That's not a bad idea, I've always never liked the way I sounded especially on camera and that may help a bit for videos where I have to talk. I've just been using my iP6 the last few years for YT. I had a Nikon S8200 but the battery went kaput cuz I used it so little, never liked the low audio...

    YouTube channel

My most popular videos have been appliance and other home mechanical things. Not the plumbing fixtures or cars. I've thought about creating another channel for some time to keep things separate but now with this latest development I'm not going to. I think I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm...

Furnace question for Easterners/Cold Country members~

The sheet metal ductwork keeps the first floor floors warm here. And the air leaks in the sheet metal help keep the basement warm. It was around 66° during the cold snap. Insulate the walls of the basement which stick out of the ground about 4' and it'd probably stay 70° down there with no...

Furnace question for Easterners/Cold Country members~

The blower is in the box on the right. Back then a blower was an add on. Wasn't integrated until they made gas and oil furnaces for the purpose.

    YouTube channel

I just dug into the matter further, apparently I've had 10,883 viewing hours over the last year. I have 1,634 subscribers. I guess I'm safe from the latest purge. I'm kinda surprised but relieved.    Apparently this video is my biggest revenue producer and most viewed. Guess I should make more...
