I am restoring a Maytag A702. I was doing research on the brake and heard "indexing" referenced. What does this mean and how does it relate to the brake? Ultimately, I am trying to figure out if taking the brake apart is necessary.

Boot / stem kit. That’s a bummer to hear finding a stem kit will be a challenge. At least I was able to find a OEM agitator seal Y0A4298 / 6-0A57420.

Is there a modern valve that can be retrofitted? The thermostat element with wax inside it does not function anymore. Unless I can find a replacement part, the only option I see is to retrofit something.

I started the restoration of my pink A702 and found the thermostat in the mixer valve is bad. Obviously, the seals are bad too. What are my options for a replacement valve?
