"New and improved" cascade platinum and platinum plus.

I've used and was satisfied with Cascade Complete powder for years, but now I can't seem to find it in the store anymore. So I switched to Cascade Complete liquid, and it does the job just fine.

    Vintage Appliance Advertisements: Part Thirty-one

Indeed, they are eye-catching designs, and so is the "Sled" model in cobalt blue glass. But your right, they are simple AM radios. It's all about superficiality, looks.. which humans are known for.

You Tube: Appliance brands to avoid

Ah, I beg to differ there Jerome, smart appliances, and phones are smart. It's the humans who use them are stupid. Think: The Dumbing Down Of America - by way of technology.

It's nice that you take the time for mom's benefit, the old saying is "You only get one mother" How far away is your mom's home? And is it within driving distance?

You Tube: Appliance brands to avoid

Isn't modern technology just FABULOUS? That is when it "works" the way YOU expect it to! Because people that "bought into" this "latest" tech are complaining daily about things that you just mentioned. God forbid you use a browser that's not updated, or a PC/laptop/phone that's not current. I...

You Tube: Appliance brands to avoid

That's why using parts that are rated beyond a product's highest operating levels is simply good design practice. And the designer has to choose from a parts vender who's got a solid reputation for quality, or come up with a part made in-house and tested for reliabilty and suitability.

    Console stereos: 1958-84

That's stretching things a bit far, unless you like distorted sound. 3 watts doesn't give enough headroom for even driving efficient speakers properly with music that has peaks/crescendos, unless it's done at "background" levels. My console pictured in post #65, is all tubes, except for the...

    Whirlpool Washer Rant!

UGH! That machine on the right reminds me of some old fossil of a man 102 years old, attempting to walk to the store. That thing looks just like my neighbor's machine, same control layout. Didn't those Fisher-Patel washers have those computer-controlled direct drive reversing motors too. I seem...

    Whirlpool Washer Rant!

Sorry, but that machines whine and slow sluggish agitation annoys me. If it wern't for that whine, the thing would put me to sleep. My neighbor's Hotpoint has agitation like that too, and he complains that it doesn't clean his laundry well.

    Console stereos: 1958-84

There might be a sound blocking panel below the record changer or it's in a compartment away from the speakers which are in another compartment. They call it a "boom shield" or something like that.

I don't doubt that it's tailored propoganda designed to convince gullible consumers to buy certain things. A.I. is BS.

    Toaster Oven recommendations?

I did some earlier shopping research on toaster-ovens a while back, and also saw some negative reviews from customers, but they were from several brands, all made in china. So I'm keeping my old B&D toaster oven.

    Console stereos: 1958-84

The one thing about the "console sound" from those big coffin cabinets is how they were manufactured. Namely, the cabinets themselves. If they were constructed with thin lumber, as many were, they have a tendency to "boom" or resonate from the bass speakers. Basically speaking, "that boxy...

    Toaster Oven recommendations?

I'm still using my 2007 Black & Decker toaster oven, which still works fine. I mainly use it for the oven, to heat up stuff like frozen potato wedges or puffs. Maybe some garlic bread slices. This way I don't have to heat up the stove oven for such a small portion.
