    Making Stuffed Peppers

I never heard of making stuffed peppers with meat thats already been cooked. I'll have to try this one. I've always made up a meat mix with rice and stuffed the raw meat into the green peppers and baked them until the meat is done. I've also never boiled the peppers first. By the time the...

    Kapusta

I was actually surprised that the cabbage didn't turn to mush after cooking for so long....but....it didn't. I'm cooking for just one and this recipe made a ton so I might just take 1/2 of it and add some boiled noodles to it for a more "stick to the ribs" meal and use the other 1/2 as a side...

    Kapusta

I haven't made a posting in a long time but wanted to thank whoever it was that put the recipe for kapusta on here. The video was excellent....thanks again. I made it this past Sunday. It turned out excellent. I don't have a roaster but used a crock pot instead. Thanks again. Butch

Household and or cleaning products from your past.

Not one person has mentioned........ PINE JELLY Back in the 50's it was very popular in my area. It not only cleaned good but its odor lasted more than one hour. I really miss that stuff. It was great on white woodwork and kitchen floors and just about anything in the bathroom.

    Homemade biscuits

Cooks Illustrated magazine from 2004........ has this recipe that I tried and love...... 2 cups of all purpose flour 1 tablespoon double acting baking powder 1 tablespoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter cut into 1/4" cubes 1 1/2 cups cold buttermilk...

    Homemade biscuits

Flour...... does make a big difference. I only use King Arthur flour because its what I've had the best results with. Plus the fact that I can't find White Lily flour in my area for some reason. The only "cake flour" that I can find is "Swans Down" and it comes in a box.

    Homemade biscuits

Thanks for the comments so far......... I found a recipe in a "Cooks" magazine today that I think I'm going to try. It uses buttermilk and says that the batter will be very wet and sticky. I know about overmixing. One time I waaaaay overmixed the batter and they came out like hockey pucks...

    Homemade biscuits

I'm dying for some good homemade biscuits. I've tried recipes that I've found online and in cookbooks but I'm really not happy with them. Maybe I'm expecting too much. I know they should be light and kinda flaky but shouldn't they have some flavor to them too? Maybe I should use some bacon...

    How to bake a cake..........

Not a bad idea...... If one layer had a depression and the other layer had a hump then they'd fit together and you wouldnt have to worry about the top layer sliding off. You guys are SO smart ! LOL

    How to bake a cake..........

Chocolate Depression Cake I meant to post this recipe right after I started this thread but I forgot...sorry. Anyway, my Mom passed this recipe to me years ago and she got it from my Dads Mom. They always called it depression cake because it had no eggs in it and was cheaper to make back...

    Iron in bed?

I used to iron my sheets....... but not anymore. Instead I always line dry them BUT, I hang the flat sheet up longways and in half (that way I get the line down the middle) and I take the garden hose and drench them with water. The weight of all that water immediately takes out all the...

    Yucky Kleenex

I'd like to know........ whatever happened to the Man Size tissues that Kleenex made? I absolutely hate these small size ones that I can see thru ! I have to grab 2 or 3 at a time when I sneeze or I just blow a hole thru just using 1. I've reverted back to just using handkerchiefs.

    Gluten-Free Dining

Gluten free bake shops...... For everyone that lives in a big city I would imagine it would be easier to be on this regimin as they're so many small stores to shop at. I know that Philadelphia has gluten-free bake shops where you can buy breads of all kinds and cakes, pies and pastries...

    pine-sol

Pine Sol is good, but..... I remember my Mom using a product called Pine Jelly that was even better than Pine Sol. I've looked everywhere for it and can't find it. I can only assume they stopped making it.

Anyone remember the Jello Whip N Chill?

Lawrence/Maytagbear Would you fold the dream whip into the vanilla pudding and let that set overnight and then use that instead of the whip n chill?

Anyone remember the Jello Whip N Chill?

I'm pretty sure it was from the 60's. I finally got a recipe for a very light & fluffy cheesecake that has lady fingers around the edge of it and the recipe calls for using Jello Whip N'Chill. I'm pretty sure its not made any longer and was just wondering if anyone knows of something that can...
