    1954 GE Stratoliner Timer Help

1953 I have a 1953 version of that range. Best one I've ever cooked with. My clock didn't work right either but these folks sorted it for me: http://generaltimerepairs.com They bought the GE clock business when they exited the market - he worked there . No connection other than as a...

Antique Gas stove.. Here we go again? Need all the info I can get!

some can, some can't Modern gas ranges usually cannot have use of the oven during times with no mains power. There are some models, like one a neighbor has, where the cooktop/hob cannot even be lit manually. In the USA and Canada (and maybe elsewhere) some of the ranges from Unique have...

That Alton Brown GE Trivection ad...

Not gone, quite Sharp sells a Microwave Convection oven which is a 'micro thermal.' I've had one for almost 20 years. Well, Iv'e had several and they still sell them, I think. They're quite good. I tend to use it for roasting meats and don't find a lot of difference between micro+heat or...

    The new cheaper Cuisinart Mixer!

Kenwood. I second the vote for Kenwood, especially if you can get an older, British build model (that was pretty much up until the late 1990s they were built in UK IIRC). Rival sold them under their name for a while. Amusingly enough, Cuisinart did the same thing. Kenwood was acquired by...

    Need a new range

Unique off grid The unique off grid ones do not have clean cycle either - OTOH in my opinion it keeps the enamel from getting heat stressed. And it isn't that big of a deal just to clean manually - 15 minutes or so.

    Need a new range

one of these You might consider one of these: http://uniqueoffgrid.com/ Fetchable through menards and they are quite reliable. They do not need electricity if there is no power, which is a selling point for me. I've had one for a couple of years and like it a lot - mine's a 24" white one.

How Can Handwashing Dishes Increase Your Chances of Getting Sick?

Dishmasters I prefer to use the Bosch and do 99% of the time. But for the things that MUST be washed by hand, the Dishmaster is great. You can squirt HOT soapy water on stuff, use the non porous brush on the items then rinse in HOT water. And you don't have to immerse your hands in a HOT...

    Turn-Key GE Kitchen

But mid century modern is 'in.' Mid century modern is in, though perhaps not everywhere in America. I'm putting my kitchen BACK to mid century modern because I like it. And I like metal cabinets. Maybe if I ever decide to sell, folks won't like it, but I will. Who knows?
