But those were the local ones We had frigidaire, maytag, kleenmaid and other well-built American machines too.

Hoover, Malleys and Simpson were the main players in our market if I am correct. One lot used the wig-wag gear boxes and the others were Blackstone based. We are a country of top loaders, just like our brothers across the pond.

Hi everyone, I just scored 2 mid 70s Hoover 600 top loaders today. From Melbourne, of course. They always are there for some reason. One is a 625 with heater to boost up the water temp. So stoked to have so many spare parts 😀 They arrive tomorrow afternoon😛😛

Taps There are a set of original 1/4 bsp screwed 1950's taps to the right of the machine. The laundry never had a copper, but was built for a really early machine that had its own concrete raised area it sat on. The place was built in 1952.

Here's a pic of a Greenwich, Sydney laundry mid winter. The machine is a 1980 Hoover 725. The concrete tubs were very common in laundries here up till the 60's. Cheers!
