Salvaged a Calypso, Not Working

Dadoes, he reseated the ribbon plugs per your advice, to no avail. We believe the problem is the Machine Control Board. A neighbor who repairs appliances lended a hand last evening and says that board has telltale signs of getting too hot. According to info found online, and confirmed in a...

    Salvaged a Calypso, Not Working

Thanks, Dadoes. We were not sure about those buttons interfering or not. Good to know. By reseating the ribbon cables, do you mean to simply unplug and replug? Thank you for your reply.

    Salvaged a Calypso, Not Working

Today we finished cleaning the top parts of the machine and reassembled it. The inner and outer tubs were not removed, just the top plate, balance ring, dispensers, etc. We plugged it in, and now the control panel does nothing. None of the buttons respond. Since everything in the control panel...

    Salvaged a Calypso, Not Working

All we had time to do last night was to continue cleaning parts of soap scum. The parts look SO much nicer with the muck off! Stopped at the Dollar General and got a bottle of foaming bathtub cleaner with bleach for $1, and it's working great! He really doesn't want to take out the stainless...

    Salvaged a Calypso, Not Working

Today we did some more tearing apart and cleaning. My husband put water in the tub to see if it would drain, which it did not. The pump just buzzed. So he took that apart and found it had debris in it. That is now reassembled. Tomorrow we will try the pump again. We broke one of the plastic feet...

i am very greatful to members on the site

Yes, I am surprised their machine does not smell. There is likely mildew where it cannot yet be seen. Eventually the evidence will show up. Too bad they didn't listen to you. Keep talking to them.

Duo-Matic Twin Tub Washing Machine Restored

All but for that one point a few seconds in, the spin can is much quieter than my Hoover.

LG washer problems... already! Not sure wtd.

You will get used to it. I remember when I got my LG FLer. I was not happy with the long cycle times, but now I just work around it. I can get away with using the Towels cycle for most loads, except my husband's work clothes And every other load of Whites gets done on Steam. Those two loads that...

    Salvaged a Calypso, Not Working

Hi Folks. My husband recently scavenged a Calypso from the recycling center. Upon inspection of the PC boards, he noticed a blown capacitor. He replaced the capacitor. The machine powers on, but will do nothing. It shows a number 7 in the Time Remaining window. He removed the wash plate, but...

1930's Copper Easy Wringer and GE Fridge

Electric washing machine and refrigerator from the 1930's (I believe). The washing machine is an easy wringer washer with a copper tank. It does seem to work. The fridge is General Electric and probably does not...

Decisions, decisions... (shopping for new matching w/d)

I am late to the thread and wish I had seen it sooner. OP- What did you end up getting? I have the LG version of your option 1, but I don't have accela wash. If you haven't yet decided....just make sure you get one with an onboard water heater, and the Delay Start feature is a real time saver.

    Need new washer. Please advise.

A lot has already been said about the benefits of a front loader machine. I had two of them before my current one that did not perform well. I did not choose the right FL machines previously. My vote would be for an LG front load washer with steam, the Water Plus feature and the spray rinse...

    SAMSUNG quad washer/dryer laundry pair

I would totally buy this washer set up if I didn't already have my set up. The Sidekick has a couple big flaws. One, the Warm water option. You call that warm?? Two, you cannot use bleach in the Sidekick. My understanding is that the Samsung little washer gives you the option for Hot water, and...

Usefullness of the Little Washer As far as the usefulness of the little washer...it is handy. I think if you never had one and no opportunities to put it to use, you may not be aware. Here are some real-life examples of my own:

Very small loads -One week I wash whites and lights...

    New Here- My Machines

I've seen some of your videos as well. Love the LG mini washer! I don't see anything showing off your full size LG though. :) Good choice on the LG, by the way. I have an LG FL that I am well pleased with after having two other FLers that did not perform as well. I am sure I would have been...

    New LG Washer!

Peteski - Yes, that is how the Heavy Duty cycle does it. If you want more wash time with the extra water, choose the Bulky/Large cycle + Water Plus. However, note that you will have to add a spin (11 minutes for High, 13 for Extra High) after the cycle ends, because Bulky/Large's highest spin...
