Time to say goodbye and find a new home for these

The wife said that it's time for these to go. This Lady Kenmore set has been my daily drivers for about ten years and I have four kids. I've done tons of work to them. I have lots of pics of the work that I've done. If you are seriously interested I will send you every pic I have to include the...

    Basket Drive Rebuild

Hey all, I am wanting to swap out the springs on my basket drive (part #366659) but I don't want to destroy it by not knowing what I am doing. My Kenmore washer, 1072693430, is working okay now that I have installed the old basket drive back into the machine. I tried installing a new one...

    Kenmore 11072693430 Basket Drive 366659

Thanks Gordon. So how do you go about swapping the springs out on a basket drive? Are there any tricks-of-the-trade that make things easier? I loosened up the set screw that holds the brake guide in place but it won't budge. I am not sure how to get that wire that's holding things together...

    Kenmore 11072693430 Basket Drive 366659

There is a basket drive (383925) on ebay right now. He's asking $149 plus shipping. That's a little rich for my blood right now with Christmas on the way. There a few other basket drives on ebay as well with part numbers that are close to 383925 such as 383926, etc. but close only counts in...

    Kenmore 11072693430 Basket Drive 366659

Thank you guys. No, I haven't entertained the idea of swapping springs. It seems like it would be a pain in the butt to do that. I was thinking that you need a specific tool for that job. Is swapping out springs easier than I think it is? Also, thanks for the other part number Gordon. I...

    Kenmore 11072693430 Basket Drive 366659

Anybody know if I can substitute a basket drive with a different part number for the basket drive that originally came on my washer (original basket drive part number is 366659)? I see several for sale on ebay but I am not sure if those have a long enough tube or if the springs are strong...

Kenmore 11072693430 Gear Case Oil Question and other rebuild questions - LAST UPDATE!

Just for grins:) These are my other appliances that I keep in running condition. Yes, I think avocado is beautiful. If they made new appliances in these colors I would be tempted to try them out. But, they don't so, I repair my old appliances and keep them running. At least, for as long as I...

Kenmore 11072693430 Gear Case Oil Question and other rebuild questions - LAST UPDATE!

She's all put back together and running just like she was delivered from the Sears catalog. I couldn't be happier with how the installation of the new centerpost bearings and seals turned out. Check out the pics of her running at full speed. I have been unbelievably lucky in finding the...

Kenmore 11072693430 Gear Case Oil Question and other rebuild questions - UPDATE!

So, the new centerpost bearings and seals are in. I can't imagine doing this job without the proper tools. The bearing puller and bearing installer made the job go smoothly. The seals and bearing coated in turbine oil (hydraulic oil). The bottom top seal cavity filled with approximately 1/8...

Check out my brand new basket drive!

Those water marks went away after I cleaned the shaft and took off the clear tape holding the instructions on. The guy I bought it from said it was new old stock. The inside of the tube looks new as well. Either way it's new to me.

    Bearing Installation Directions

I am posting these two pictures for the benefit of someone else who might be trying to install new bearings into their centerpost. My washer is a Kenmore #11072693430 but these instruction apply to more models than mine. The bearing removal tool, bearing installation tool and seal installer...

Check out my brand new basket drive!

I was at my local appliance parts store looking for new brake pads for my basket drive in my Kenmore, #11072693430. One of the guys says "I think I might have one complete basket drive from years ago in the back". It took him about ten minutes to find it and he walks out and says "what do you...

Kenmore 11072693430 Gear Case Oil Question and other rebuild questions.

Btw, anyone have a new base (substructure) and/or basket that they want to sell me? I know it's a long shot but I figured I would ask. I had my centerpost repaired a few years by having a welder weld on a thin stainless steel tube over the old center post. I painted it with POR 15 and it is...

Kenmore 11072693430 Gear Case Oil Question and other rebuild questions.

Thanks potatochips and combo52. The bearing/ seal kit that I have has two different size bearings. I wasn't sure which bearing went where. Now I know. The kit has two top seals so I will attempt to use both of them. I am not sure the best way to get the lower of the two top seals in...

Hello everybody. It's been a while since I've posted anything here. I am going to install new bearings, WP8546455, in my center post in my Kenmore 11072693430 this coming weekend. I have the bearings, bearing puller, bearing installation tool and the various seals required. I want to check...

    Lady Kenmore Centerpost Update

Hey everybody, Some of you will remember last summer I had a new center post welded onto/ over my old centerpost of my 1977 Lady Kenmore Heavy Duty washer, model # 110.72693430. If you remember, my tub and basket had some pretty bad rust going on. I sanded away as much rust as I could and...

    70's Lady Kenmore Agitator Removal

Here is my second vid: FEster, I checked and the machine shop guy checked all over the country and we struck out. I am sure that the correct size diameter stainless steel tubing is out there but I couldn't find it. I could have it milled but that could get a bit pricey. My machine shop...

    70's Lady Kenmore Agitator Removal

Thanks everyone. Combo52, John L., I would love to trade for an avocado lid for the triple dispenser. However, mine is not black. Actually it was white and I painted it black. If you still want to trade let me know. I will work on the video.
