Thanks! Here's the neat old Westinghouse lamps...

    1971 Maytag DE806

The Fluorescent Light Hey Guys! I’m still running this dryer since last year. It’s been working very well using the “Normal” cycle. My question now is- how do I access the fluorescent lamp behind the dial? I have looked it over and gently rugged and nothing obvious jumped out at me...

    1971 Maytag DE806

Permanent Press I ran a normal sized load, containing "normal" clothes, on the Permanent Press cycle last night. They came out much dryer than I recalled from the last time I tried that setting. I tried to time the cycle, but was not there when it finished. I believe it was at least an hour...

    1971 Maytag DE806

Put the Maytag dryer into service We moved to a place in May that has no gas service, so this electric Maytag was pulled out of storage. I hooked it up to 240 volts, and began using it. I've experimented with the different settings, and found that just plain old normal works about the best...

Maytag LA712 Serial #017737 NX Faulty Hot Water Inlet Valve

Installed and Working! It was easier to install than I had anticipated. I figured I'd have to take the top off of the machine, but I watched a video before getting started, which of course showed how easily the valve is removed and replaced, right from the back of the machine. Awesome! Have...

Maytag LA712 Serial #017737 NX Faulty Hot Water Inlet Valve

Thank you I was looking at all of those cheap ones. Some of them carried the warning sign "China" on them, others didn't say where they were made. Much nicer to get an original, in the box. It looks like I missed the boat on getting a new timer. I should have back when I first got this...

Maytag LA712 Serial #017737 NX Faulty Hot Water Inlet Valve

Hello all! It's been a long time. Sadly I've been in no position to collect any more lovely old laundry equipment, so I still just have the two washers, this one and the Whirlpool, which is still out of service with a leak. I've been using this Maytag for years now, and, other than the fact...

Free 1973 General Electric Frost King Refrigerator

Saved for now! No one committed to picking up this nice old fridge, so I have it now. Will get some photos and such when I get a chance to unload it. Keith

Free 1973 General Electric Frost King Refrigerator

This belongs to a friend of a friend, and is in Southern California. I'm told it's very much like this one, but in better condition: We're trying to find a home for it before it gets scrapped. I understand that it's going away after Saturday. Sorry for the short notice. :( Thanks, Keith

    Maytag dg713 gas leak

"Repairmen" They are no longer technicians. They are parts swappers at best, and more likely new appliance salesmen in disguise.

How many does it take to have a Wash-In?

Philco Fridge I have one very similar to that one! Mine does work, but is missing some of the shelves, and is not in as nice a condition. Keith

The Duomatic is really home now...

Discharging during drying... Is this a condensing, non-vented type of dryer?

1987 Kenmore Limited Edition Washer Went Haywire

Surge Suppressors Surge suppressors are typically designed around Metal Oxide Varisters (MOV). These wear out. Every time they absorb a spike, a little of their life is used up. So the originals in your machine may well be non-functional by now. Just something to be aware of.

1955 Frigidaire washer free in Pleasant Hill near San Francisco

Fake ads by Fake people Are another pathetic possibility. An example: I belong to a Crown Bus group, and several years ago I started looking for the holy grail of them (for me). A three axle Crown from the '50's. Not too many of them were made, the very first one being built late in 1955...

    Maytag 102P Automatic Washer

I hope you can save it! Sounds like it was going to get scrapped out otherwise!!! I'd bet there aren't too many like that still around.

    Heating water Hell

Detergent? I'm really green to this subject, but would like to share a brief expsrience. I relocated the kitchen in our current home, and the purpose was to be a senior care home. We wanted new, but cheap appliances that the staff could use (abuse). We ended up moving in ourselves instead, and...

Washer Dryer Combo? Is that correct? I've always loved those. What year was this one made?

1995 Kenmore DD TL - motor clicks (and arcs) on and off loudly during agitate

Good Job! Replacing the motor is the easy way, but motors can pretty much always be repaired unless they have a failed winding(s). Even then they can just be rewound. Probably not worth it while new ones are available, but eventually there are no new ones...

KitchenAid by Hobart - Runs Hot Water Down the Drain

All this talk of scrappier and replacing... Any time a machine stops working correctly, it is almost always a single point failure. As such, the best course of action is almost always to repair. In the case of vintage machines that cannot be replaced (because they are no longer being made) the...
