    Modern Living: Part Eighteen

I lived in a house with a coal furnace in first grade. Converted to a gas add on burner the following year. Then my parents first owned home had oil. My dad was always cleaning it and it was dirty heat. The burner nozzle kept clogging. A year later he removed the monster, jacked up the house...

    Modern Living: Part Eighteen

Matt, how can you be sure? There is no way. Every utility has a customer processing charge. We're paying for the mailing and handling. Lot's of people are full of crap and love spreading it. Postage goes up, paper goes up, fuel goes up, ink goes up. Of course it increased a little bit each year...

    Modern Living: Part Eighteen

No Matt, they ask for rate hikes regardless and now some are charging a fee for paying by credit card. The programs to help those in financial distress like Thaw are not funded by or compensated by the utilities. The line workers get raises same as the management and that costs money...

Australian laws are introducing the “two buttons start”

Highly likely, but the results do make sense for my geneology. Tunisia is just south of Sicily, the Balkans just across the Adriatic from Italy, and the Ukraine and Russia just east of Poland.

Best laundry detergent and/or additive for food and oil stains?

Good minor oily food type stain removal with Persil oxy and steam cycle. I'm one to dab water on my shirt as soon as I spill food on it.

    Crown 450 Canister Vacuum

A neighbor gave me an old Constellation when I was a kid. Hoover reissued it in stainless steel a decade ago with a turbo nozzle. I think their Celebrity and Dimension 1000 were their best. I've got my mom's Eureka #1279 Brandywine that I bought her in 1979. Also the companion top of the line...

Best laundry detergent and/or additive for food and oil stains?

We use the oxy clean gel stick and Lestoil for stuborn oil stains. Just a dab or two. You don't want the strong smell to linger after laundering.

    Toughest laundry detergent from Persil

We have good results from Persil oxy liquid. It's important to do enough rinses in a front load washer and run the cleaning cycle within a couple loads after the clean washer icon appears. It removes detergent residue and prevents sudsing. Also prolongs spider arm life.

Newer Whirlpool washers known for control board failures?

I think surge protection can help extend control board life. Our dryer board failed after a thunderstorm last April. It was a 2010 model. Washer survived and is 7 years old. Dryer was plugged into the fourth protector socket and the washer in the first.

i wish they coukd bring back classic washers and dryers with electro mechanical timer

In reply to anything about appliances being relative to the current political climate, I don't think there is. Nor does anything to do with appliances contradict anyone's views. Appliances refer to convenience and economy of scale. The latter more to ethics, morals, values, etc. A few points...
