    Maytag stacked W/D

My best friend had one of these, bought new in 87. It was a very good machine, and he had it for at least 20 years. I helped him move it once, what a beast !

    Thoughts on LG wash tower.

Mark, my experience with Costco delivery was awesome, although I've heard stories otherwise as well. We ordered the Wash Tower and refrigerator from them, and they all came with an extended warranty, installation and haul away. We had them move the old fridge to the garage which we then gave...

    Thoughts on LG wash tower.

Hey Matt, I just recently bought the LG Washtower and so far, absolutely love it! I got model lke100 from Costo, on sale for $1550 including delivery, installation, haul away of the old ones, and a 3-year extended warranty. The washer has many options, including steam. We use mostly the normal...

Can a heated mattress pad be placed UNDER a mattress topper?

We've had one for years and cover it our regular mattress pad and never had an issue. I use the preheat feature before bed and then turn it off. We keep the room on the colder side, there's nothing better than a warm bed and peeking out into a chilly room.

    The Great Washing Machine Scam

Modern top load washers, especially ones with wash plates, make me angry. The dribbles of water, the jiggling of the clothes, the spinning and stopping and the just sitting there make me crazy I've only had a front loader the last 18 years and just got the LG Washtower and love it. The...

Got new appliances after 18 years

Thanks Mark. Hoping for a long life on all of them. The warranty was only $25 for 3 years so why not. I researched the surge suppressor and most places said not to do it. Still on the fence as what to do.

Got new appliances after 18 years

Thanks Bob. The washtower is model wke100. Was toying with the next model up with turbowash but was getting too expensive. I still have my Maytag Jet Clean portable from 1990 something. It works like a champ still and when we do the rest of the kitchen, we'll do a built in.

Got new appliances after 18 years

After living with issues on all our appliances for a while, we bit the bullet and got all new ones. The old GE oven from 2006 would never hold temp, the Kenmore front loaders from 2008 were good, but the front was rusting, and the GE traditional fridge was always too small. We went with all LG...

    1957 Home in Tallahassee, FL

What a lovely home and I totally agree with John that the big tree has to go. And that price for a nice home, UNHEARD of here in Northern NJ. You can't even find a dump that needs to be torn down for that $$

It's That Time Of Year Again! What Is Your AC Thermostat Set To?

We prefer windows open whenever we can, but the house has been closed up for at least the last week. Central A/c set to 74 or 73 and a few vintage fans running. The upstairs is always warmer so I keep a small window unit in the bedroom for sleeping chilly. Just bought a new Windmill 6k btu...

    For you GE dishwasher fans

I had the dishwasher in my house in Chicago. It was probably the best machine I've ever owned. Not to mention, the electronics at the time we're very cool.

Anyone shy about using color in/on your house?

I honestly don't think it's that bad. To many dark colors for my taste in a small house, but the ones that are there are current. I actually like the color of the living room. The outside could use with a little contrasting light-colored trim. Paint is easy to fix and should reflect your...

A New All-Wheel-Drive vs. what I currently have: Old School Four-Wheel-Drive

I'm a big fan of AWD. My cars since 1999 have had it. (Subaru Forester, Subaru Outback, Chevy Equinox x2 and currently Mazda CX5) I don't want to have to think about when to turn it on or worse, miss the opportunity to turn it on and wish I had. All of them have been outstanding in any amount of...

    Stacked Maytag W/D

Those were very nice units. A good friend bought one in 1988 and had it a very long time. Lots of cycle and options and never really an issue.

    My “new” Cadillac

What a beautiful car! Our dear neighbors growing up always had a Cadillac and I remember when they brought home their 72 SDV. I forget the name of the color, but it was a beautiful metalic gold, brown vinyl top, and medium brown leather. He wouldn't drive it until he took it to Sears and had...
