*FREE Two Parts Units 50s-60s? GE Mobile Maid Portable Dishwashers

Hello there! I have two almost identical GE Mobile Maid portable dishwashers that need a good home. I am giving these away. *Neither of these are working units, I am considering them both to be parts units.* I am hopeful that someone who needs parts might be able to either use these as parts...

    Analog to digital USB conversion

My 2 cents... Recording directly through your computers 3.5mm line in is the cheapest way to go about it. I use Audacity to record with. It's a free program that works great. The only thing you need to watch out for is the quality of your sound card. Most modern computers have them built into...

    I am a royal idiot...

Ah! Makes Sense Of course the appliance bulb was loose when I test ran the dryer. So that would explain the lack of anything seen on this ozone bulb. Does anyone know how these bulbs work if they are just hanging out way outside the drum? I'm just curious, I've never heard of anything like...

    I am a royal idiot...

Ozone Bulb?! What the hay? I've heard of UV fluorescent lights but never an ozone bulb. It looks like the filament is in tact but I couldn't see any light coming from it. I guess it might not produce visible light though. You would think that it would be in the drum in order to kill germs and...

    I am a royal idiot...

I got it fixed! So it turns out that a sock got sucked into the fan and that caused the belt to slip. Oddly enough I never heard a squeal. Took the sock out and then proceeded to try it out. It works! For due diligence I decided to lube everything. I used a combination of grease and oil to lube...

    I am a royal idiot...

So I've been using my lovely Maytag pair for the past few months without a hitch. Then I had to wash a pair of shoes. I threw them in the dryer without even thinking. I went to check on them this morning and everything was slightly damp. I thought it just needed more time. I hadn't even noticed...

    My 1936 GE Range!

Hey! I'm back! Wow, I can't believe it's been this long since I even thought about working on this stove. That's what a crappy job will do to you. It drains you mentally and physically. Anyways... I'm ready to finally get this thermostat fixed. I am missing having an oven. I did finally figure...

Beautiful Vintage GE (SO2) Ice Box - $150 (Minden)

CKs are bullet proof... No, seriously. I've seen one with a bullet in the condenser band that just missed the refrigerant passage. That slowed down the bullet enough to spare the compressor. Try that with a modern fridge!

Beautiful Vintage GE (SO2) Ice Box - $150 (Minden)

Nice Monitor Top! Wiring and gaskets are all these beauties ever need. And the odd start relay after 80 plus years of service. Since it is a 35 CK as previously mentioned, it will work. They almost always do. And yes, that little tool hanging in the door is quite rare and is used to pry up...

Turquoise GE Kitchen of the Future $5600 (St. Louis, MO)

Wow...its next door to me! This is a very nice time machine kitchen. And it's right next door to me! Too bad it's newer than what I collect. Now the 37 Westinghouse kitchen that I saw...oh boy.

    Vtg GE Combo Fridge Advice

Good fridge... These are great models and have few problems. With any fridge though you need to have a good working door seal. Especially in an unconditioned space. Otherwise it will pull moisture into the door insulation. Ask me how I know... At any rate the compressors are long lived. The...

Can vintage freezers rival new ones? ( energy efficiency )

I have a 49 GE freezer... And it works beautifully. Comparing it, a 9 cubic foot chest style with an early 70s coldspot upright manual defrost 15 cubic foot...there is no comparison. I ditched the coldspot, sold it off for what I had in it once I re wired my GE. The verdict on energy usage? A...

1962 Frigidaire Imperial Fridge Problems... help!

Question about the cycling... How often would you say this fridge is cycling? Couple times an hour? I ask because if the freezer section is at the proper temp I'm wondering if the fridge is indeed working harder than it should to get to that point.

1962 Frigidaire Imperial Fridge Problems... help!

Ah, thanks for the correction Panthera, thank you for that info. I need to learn more about these early auto defrost Frigidaire models. They are very interesting. GM at its best. I'm so used to fridges that don't know what a separate freezer door is lol.

Replacement for 1982 Whirlpool Workhorse Refrigerator?

Very solid fridges... I had a 78 whirlpool a while back. I sold it off and it's probably still working. These units use a rotary vane style compressor that is very smooth, very quiet, and extremely reliable. Seeger cabinet company, who made cabinets for the venerable monitor top refrigerators...

1962 Frigidaire Imperial Fridge Problems... help!

At least its working... But the freezing issue needs to be fixed. Like Panthera said, I would check all of the things listed. I think that if it is cycling like it should be that you should check to see what kind of setup your model has. I know that these early auto defrost Frigidaire models...
