Thanks to their porcelain enamel top and tubs you can get those vintage Maytags looking brand new with some elbow grease and compound polish.

That Maytag is in nice shape and you don't see them in Almond too often, then there is the cool factor. The Hot Point looks like its seen some hard mileage. I'd hang on to the Duet for bulky items like comforters.

Since were on the subject, which vintage blenders are worth buying at estate sales? I see them often and it would be nice to have one but I don't know much about them, most are Oster, some Waring or other brands.

Like many products sold these days its probably designed and manufactured as cheaply as possible with inferior components. You should hit some estate sales, I've seen lots of low mileage vintage blenders for sale.

Yeah, those types of items don't usually sell at estate sales either unless they're high quality mid modern pieces in very good condition. Along with China Hutch/Cabinets.

That must be the Restore in Dover. When they first opened years ago prices and selection were good. Then word got out, now its usually overrun with mostly third worlders picking over the bones of stuff that didn't sell at estate sales and garage sale rejects at jacked up prices.

Its both. Million candle power fixtures with no shades emitting a blinding white light aimed right in your face. To make matters worse where two lights would be more than enough people will put up a half dozen or more because of the lower cost to run.

That is one of the reasons I refused the "smart" meters JCP&L installed last year. Its the first step toward variable electricity rates. Plus they are made of plastic instead of metal and porcelain and fire hazards from what I've read. I imagine at some point it won't be optional anymore. First...

Those are the best estate sales, where the people have been living in the house for 50 years or more and the contents are high quality items that use to made here in the U.S. You might want to consider having a "downsizing" estate sale so you know the stuff will go to someone who can appreciate...

Pretty much anything that isn't nailed down is for sale at most estate sales.

I just picked a few three-way 50/100/150 bulbs at an estate sale on Friday. I like saving money as much as anyone, you could even call me a cheapskate, but I hate LED's especially for indoor lighting, Outdoors they are a major source of light pollution and general ugliness IMO.

I'd be more concerned about the stem mount seal while you have the inner tub out. Once that fails its game over if water gets into the trans and/or corrodes the agitator shaft.
