as the Westinghouse goes in for some repairs. Never really used one they sure make a different sort of laundry noise!

Yeah...
The Frigidaire 1-18 does make a unique washing sound. To me, it kinda sounds like a train (chuga chuga chuga chuga).

DMy mom said the same thing when she heard the 1-18 i revived running "It sounds like a train is going through the basement". It's all the dirt leaving the clothes....

Haha yes. Had one for several years before passing it to an ex. -great turnover, makes lots of noise and suds. Remembering could hear it run in the basement from outside the house. -can really tangle clothes so advice was to just drop clothes straight down into the machine and not wrap horizontally around the agitator if possible. Cheers.
