What is this guy smoking and where can I get some?

Quote from the auction: "Yes, this is it. The one everyone has been talking about!...this listing has been featured on several different collectors websites...The iron itself is probably only worth about $35 - $50; however, I have estimated the value of the GREEN box to be from $1 Million - $3 Million."

What he probably failed to notice is that the collector sites are all laughing at his stupid ass. And what did he use to determine the value of the box - LSD??

I wonder if this is real or simply a listing to get publicity? It was listed previously for $1,325,000.00, and it came with a car (up to a $100,000.00 value: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250600944402 ).

Well...

If I had a million dollars, I can think of something considerably better to spend it on than an old worn out travel iron in a carboard box with green labels.

I see crazy stuff like this more and more.

On my local craigslist, there was a guy attempting to sell a set of Jetsons stuffed characters for $1000, that more than likely came out of a claw machine. He probably spent $1000 in quarters just to get all of them.

Then there is someone trying to sell a Western Electric rotary phone for $150. As far as I can see, it's the same common style set that they manufactured from the 50's all the way through the 80's. It's also the most common color: Black. The chances of finding an identical phone for around $10 or less are very high.

I just don't get it.

Could you imagine the ebay and paypal fees if someone actually put a bid in at that price? No Thanks!

Glad to see they came to their senses. I sent the seller a message asking if it was a publicity stunt. I also sent them a link to an auction for an identical one that sold, it was in better condition and had the water bottle. They never responded and I didn't look at their auction again until dnastrau's post.

For the orinal stupid asking price for that iron and box-less water bottle---think of how many vintage IRONRITES you could buy!And the truck(s) to carry them in!And don't let the cardboard recyclers get a hold of that precious GREEN box!
