My work schedule has been crazy for the last month and today was my first day off after working 2 weeks straight.  Ugh!

Anyway, a coworker / friend is dealing with cleaning up, sorting through and getting rid of stuff in her parents house and large yard.   Ya see her dad was a pack-rat and never got rid of anything.

I was talking to her about a week ago and tells me "The scrap metal guy came by and hauled off a some washers & dryers and a bunch of other stuff..."   After I express interest she says "I just wanted them gone....." and "I didn't know you'd want them."   Then Friday she calls and tells me she has another washer and a couple dryers and asks if I want them.   "Well duh!"

This morning I head over and she has 2 washers, 3 dryers and a dishwasher sitting there waiting for me.

DISCLAIMER: These have been sitting outside, though under a portable garage type of thing, for years apparently.   They were covered with A LOT of dust / dirt and have seen better days.

First up this '77 Maytag CA 408.   It looks like this poor thing has been ridden hard and put away wet.  There is a lot of rust on the lower left side of the cabinet, however the right side is OK.  It needs a thorough cleaning inside and out.   I like the shaded "coppertone" but I'm probably going to strip it for parts.

Next, this Amana (Speed Queen) washer.   It's in pretty good shape!   I hooked it up, tested it and it works, but the timer "seems" a little slow.    I'll have to check on that later.    Has the owners manual, er... the "use and care guide" and I'm guessing early 90's.

I think this will be a keeper!

Next this electric GE dryer.  Late 80's?   The chrome door handle is rusty and the plastic-chrome buttons have green corrosion on them.   Looks to be in generally OK shape.   I'll test it later when I get a chance.

Now a '69 Kenmore electric dryer.   This poor thing has seen better days.   I have the lower panel for it but it looks just like the door.   When I looked inside, I found the belt and tensioner.   This will probably go to the big scrap pile in the sky... unless any of you want it?   It's yours for FREE!!!!!

Patience my dear Phil, patience!

Now the portable dishwasher.   If I'm reading the model tag right... it's a '72?    Looks pretty BOL with only one spray arm inside, but it is REALLY clean inside and the wooden top is in BEAUTIFUL shape!

Again, yours for FREE if you want it!  (I don't think anyone will, but hey I gotta try!)

And now the BEST for last!

OK this one DID NOT come from my friends house... it was on Craigs List and I bought it this afternoon.

Can anyone nail down the year?  I'm guessing 1963?

Looks to be a nicer/upper end model WP electric dryer.   I'm guessing the control panel lights up, but I need to replace the power cord before I can test it.   Came out of the "grandmothers" house (who apparently died).

It's VERY cool!

Interior and model tag.   It's in nice condition too!   I hope theres a light in the control panel!

If any of you are interested in "certain" machines (FOR FREE) - EXCEPT this WP dryer, just message me here or e-mail me.

Oh, that's a nice find! Congratulations! I really like these Whirlpool dryers with window doors. I'm wondering if Inglis ever offered them here? I've never seen one.

What an excellent dryer find......really nice....I too hope it lights up....most of the ones I have seen with the windowed door had the ultraviolet light inside, which allowed the blue glow to be seen as the clothes tumbled, curious though, the door handle looks like it's on backwards...this would also appear to be a belt driven blower, yes/no?

WOW Kevin You Had A Busy Weekend

The Amana washer should have been from around the 4th week of 94.

The KM gas dryer would have been built the 25th week of 88.

The KM match-all electric dryer is from the 45th week of 1968, this is not the first of the Match-All dryers, Sears had a few models starting around 1964 or 5 that had extruded aluminum control panels and still were the older dryer design with a belt driven blower.

Maybe Gordon can give us the exact dates these Match-All dryers started.

That poor D&M built KM portable DW was built February of 1975, it is funny that the only D&M DWs that ever show up in decent shape all all unused, LOL. Kevin you could take the pump and motor out of this one and send it to Robert so he would not have to part out the more deluxe one that he got the other month. Then someone else from the club could get Roberts portable and live out their DW fantasy [ nightmare ] , LOL.

And yes Kevin you saved the coolest for last, the J in the model # means that this is a 1962 design, but it looks like it actually was built in early 1964, WP like KM often carried production over a few years even after the 1963 K models were already being built.

Thanks for posting all the pictures of your fun weekend Kevin and it is especially nice that you posted all the model # plates.

I really should post more of the appliances I see everyday, I guess I really need a young man with a camera to follow me around and post all the appliances we see everyday.

Lighted controls

Nice haul! That older Whirlpool dryer looks exactly like one we had when I was growing up. IIRC, there are two C-7 bulbs behind the white RCA Whirlpool logo on the panel. Have fun!!

Finds!

Kevin - these are really great finds. I never saw a whirlpool dryer with that kind of control configuration. Really cool. The Kenmore DW would be better if it had a second wash level. They always skimped with the BOL models.
Best Of Luck with these finds,
Peter
