What's with that panel in the toe space of the dryer? Never seen a GE with one of those; they were used on the Hotpoint and JCPenny versions of these dryers. And look at the handle on the door... Do you suppose this one has been repaired and pieced back together over the years?

I'm no GE expert, but this model could actually be 40. Our very first dryer bought in 1969 had a console similar to this.
