Help Support :

Well, Happy Aniversary!!

And thanks to everyone who brought this site and its predecessors to life!
Of course hubby would say, "Yeah, thanks for encouraging him to get more vintage stuff" but what the heck - it's fun and apart from a few blown fuses and a dropped speed changer, it does no harm!
Thank you for bringing this site to life and collectors and fans of vintage appliances together!!!

A mille a mille di questi giorni!!

It seems really yesterday I taped "classicappliances.com"... how would I have done without...

Wow Jeff has it really been 10 years now? That's simply amazing. Back then there were only a few of us in "the club", you and John, Jon Charles, Don Haggerty, Gary Wiebel, Bob Salem and myself (did I forget anyone, I'm older now???) . When I get time I will scan some pictures of the first wash-in, 1997 on Cape Cod, MA.

The old Classic Appliances group is still operating here Yahoo Classic Appliance Club. That was a great group, the internet was all so new to us then and how amazing it turned out to be.

Our new website went live on Sunday evening Sun May 20, 2001 7:26pm. It was originally called classicappliances.com. You can see what the original home page looked like here. In 2004 when I changed the discussion forum to a threaded based forum and rename it the "Discuss-o-Mat" I also renamed the website to automaticwasher.org in order to keep the focus on washers and not stoves and refrigerators.

You can see the very first postings from the archives of "Applianceville" (what we called the Discuss-o-Mat on Classicappliances.com) HERE

WOW!!!

It sure has come a long way hasn't it? My thanks to you Robert for this and the Vacuum site. I almost live my life around Vacuumland - (Oh! got it bad ain't I?) It must be amazing to you to see all that has gone on on your babies! I think it's just wonderful! When was the current Vacuumland launched?

Thank you!
Rick

PS Unimaticboy?

It started on Cape Cod? Wouldn't it be great fun to have a 10th anniversary bash on the Cape? The New England contingency would be all over this!

Hard to believe that it has been 10 years. I first started looking at it in April of 2000 when I got my first computer. Imagine my shock when I discovered that their were others out there that loved washing machines too!! In 2001 Robert had what would have been I guess the 2nd. convention and the rest is history. I am so very thankful for all of you orginal founders!!! This site has meant so much to me and I feel so very blessed to have made so many wonderful friends through it. Thank-you one and all! Long live AW and Vacuumland!!

Terry

Thank you Robert!

We all appreciate your efforts in keeping this site going (I know I sure do).

Respect and hugs,

Alan

Happy Anniversary to the Club. Like so many i thought i was alone in my appreciation of home appliances. I knew there had to be "something" on the net and after countless searches, for vintage vacuum cleaners and fans, I wandered into this great bunch of folks. I remember the night I hit "paydirt" and found AW.Org. I will confess i was an hour late for work the next day. Thank You to Robert for such a great site, and the members that post and share their thought's. alr2903

Happy aniversary! I thought I was alone in my love for appliances old until QSD-DAN introduced me to AW.org. Just try not to hold it against him, OK?

Thanks so much, Robert

There is always something interesting on here, and I've learned a lot. Been visiting here often since it was Applianceville, but just started posting in the last couple months. Don't have a vintage washer anymore (like a fool I gave away my 1973 Maytag A207 when I got my Calypso) but still have the matching Maytag dryer. I look forward to seeing the new postings each day.

Terry & I both joined April 2000!!! Robert would love to see pics of the Cape cod wash-in as well as the Minneapolis wash-in august 2001. Who knows Scott, there may be a pic of me & Pulsamatic in there somewhere!!!

Its funny to look back at the old format. I enjoyed re-reading Robert's Post#90 on the history of Frigidaire.

This "club" has been a wonderful part of my life since I was first introduced to it in 2002 by Peter Haritatos. What a great group of "alley-cats" we are.

Thanks to all for such a great time and am looking forward to more years of fun-----and argument!
