John L believe you handled yourself with Modern Parts as you always do, in an upstanding and professional manner. Others FWIU didn't always do same. Lots of telephone calls seeking information about this or that part in stock, picking Larry's wonderful mind about repair and other information, requesting things be laid aside, etc... Then no follow though, people didn't place orders or show up and buy.

A few other members did make the trip as well.

I have some of the Frigidaire parts that Austin, Venus, and I got from Lampasas.  They invited me to fetch what was left at the house but never answered details on what was there (parts, literature, any machines) so I could determine if I had room for it.

"I don't remember ANYONE EVER posting about this place in the years it was in operation. It could have been mined for treasure over the decades. This is a real shame."

Agreed, this could have been a win/win situation for all parties where he gets compensated for his parts/knowledge, parts get saved, and machines get saved. Most of the collection will probably be staring at dirt for the next thousand years.

From time it was discovered until owner's demise, Modern Parts in Parma was discussed more than few times here in group. Again "Soberleaf", "Combo52","Tourquoisedude" and few others made trips, others looking for vintage parts were directed that way.

No shipping...

That's it then isn't it?

Thought same but also remember there isn't any packing/crating offered either. Suppose one could ask but don't think auctioneers want to go down that route.

Shipping might not be horrible if could line up something reliable, trustworthy and reasonable in terms of price. But again this agent would have to go into place, pack up and remove things.

Without a detailed invoice of what exactly was purchased (contents of shelf or room doesn't cut it), you have no way of knowing what is supposed to arrive. More to point no idea of how much total order weighs, number of containers and their sizes, etc....

Most auction places will allow buyer's agent to collect, but either spelled out in terms of service, and or by separate signed waiver auction house and or its agents aren't responsible for anything. They will release whatever lot or lots have been won, but what happens after things leave their premises is totally between buyer's agent and themselves.

So if one wins say room of agitators, and many arrive damaged, things are missing, etc... that would be buyer's tough luck.

This is one of those sort of vintage appliance things that one is better off doing in person, at least collection part. As with distant estate sales and other sort of sales with lots of goodies, logistics of this sale just don't work out for many of us...

I've driven by this place thousands of times and always wondered what it was like inside. I didn't know the owner died and that the store closed. I always thought they just kept peculiar hours.

Like others, I hope most of this stuff doesn't end up in the trash bin.

Thing is about those agitators

Even if NOS we don't know if they come with proper splines inserted. Without them things are useless.

Don't see special machine Maytag techs used to insert splines into agitators, but there were other ways IIRC.

This would go for all agitators in that room, but one assumes if place sold agitators matching splines, nuts and associated parts are somewhere in that store.

Today is preview day from 10am to 2pm. No one local wants to go have a nose about?

Auction ends tomorrow, wish website gave come idea of what(if any) bids have been placed.

Was going to register just to see if something would show up, but mysteriously all my charge/credit cards have gone missing...*LOL*
