earlier this year,when i got a 1980 24"KM BD,it came paired with a 115v 24"GE
dryer-finally got around to checking this dryer out;its clearly a franklin product
and it was built in 1988.So were 24"GE washers from this era franklins too?
This propted me to rotate my '89 franken-wards washer into use just in time for
halloween-BOO! close relation to the frigiscare lol.

Here is a picture of one GE Spacemaker portable washer that someone posted on Kijiji. I can't remember if these are made by Hitachi or Sanyo?  I am not much of a fan of the impeller washers, plus this machine sold way too quickly for me to snag it up. But anyways, as for the 24 inch machines, can someone post some other pictures?

The Pulsator

In an automatic "impeller" washer, how could the "swirlator" be placed eccentrically so as to work properly, if at all? This would entail more expense in the drive system. I have a Sanyo pulsator automatic, but I don't use it anymore, it tangles the wash badly. I believe GE's were made by Hitachi.

Problematic indeed, with the same tub spinning. Very artsy balancing trick to offset the swirlator and mechanism. Doable but heavy and expensive. But the offset action is far superior.

Offset vs. Center

I've only seen twin-tub pulsator machines with the offset, automatics with a pulsator have in the center for obvious reasons. I have never seen this setup of washer with an offset pulsator where the basket drive spins as well, if they do exist, they're very rare. Since most pulsator machines are on the cheaper end, I can't ever see this being feasible. Newer machines don't per say tangle as bad as these older ones. I've noticed that many are using larger pulsator discs that only pulse back and forth which makes the water do more of the work. If you don't overload them though they all work better. My 1973 Hitachi machine has the offset impeller and it can also tangle and creates a lot of waves in the water that like to go over the tub. That said it's also a unidirectional impeller since the pump is driven from the wash motor. The 1974 Hitachi automatic however is a reversing machine and the long runs in each direction ensure knots.
