why is it so expensive? A same size Wascator or a Little Giant would cost one third and both spin @ 1400 rpm.

What's behind ?

Possible reasons for special washer in submarine

1) Very tight spaces in submarine

2) In unfortunate event of water getting into the submarine, need to assure that the washer doesn't present a shock hazard

Custom = expensive

From the guys out here at work that used to be onb subs--a few factors for appliances-min noise and vibration-espcially if the sub has to go into silent running mode for drills or for real.The guys I knew that worked on subs said silent running drills were common-and machines couldn't be used in some cases.I couldn't remember if the brands the fellow who worked on the sub was the same as this one.

Back in the late 70s or early 80s, I watched a TV program about Hyman Rickover and the nuclear submarine fleet. In one part of the film, they walked past the laundry area for the sailors and they had the old style Westinghouse Space Mates. Must have been wonderful keeping those in repair with the heavy use they got. I wondered if the reactor was by Westinghouse so everything else by Westinghouse was free (fat chance on a government contract).

I know everything has to be bolted to the deck so I guess this has no suspension system. Get a load of the dryer specs! 18.9 kW for 16 lbs dry weight, 355 CFM

EDRO

They have an interesting website. They mention that Carnival Cruise Lines use the three pocket washers to prevent bedding and table linens from balling up.

Lee, I notice that the three pocket machines have higher extraction speeds than the open end cylinder washers. Is that because the load is more reliably balanced?
