16 year old loyal GHW9200LW Whirlpool Duet, time to replace

Hello all,

Original owner of a 2002 Whirlpool Duet that has a failing controller interface due to button failure. I would like to replace it with the smaller version from Whirlpool, as my cabinet depth is 31.75 inches. Other trim bits have been slowly decaying, so I thought it was time to let my beloved washer go.

Any thoughts as to the quality of these compact replacements from Whirlpool? Can't use a top-loader due to the raised cabinet these are installed in. Will likely replace the electric dryer as well. See washer WFW7590FW

Got a lot of use out of the $640 washer, only replacing a water inlet valve 3 years ago.

Andrew, how often do you use your whites cycle, heavy duty cycle, and sanitary cycle?  I'm asking because if you want a machine which approximates the functionality and performance of your current model, t he WFW7590 is not going to meet that goal.  The WFW920 is the only other same-dimensioned model as the 7520 which will pretty much match what you are used to.  Everything is significantly dumbed down now compared to what you're used to.  I hope I get as many years out of my 2011 Duet as you have gotten out of your 2002 Duet.

Andrew, just noticed my typing error.  I meant to type the WFW9290.  It's about as close to what you have now as what's on the market today.  These aren't really considered "compact" models.  (the 9290 and 7590), just considered closet depth.  They're still considered "full size".  A compact model would be their 2.4 cu. ft. model and smaller.

I didn't know about the 9290 model, so that is helpful. I really don't ever use the Sanitary cycle or whites. Heavy duty sometimes for jeans, although the machine doesn't like 7 pairs of jeans like it used to, as they are a little damp compared to a load of towels.

The 7590 Model is around $810 where I live. It's looking like the 9290 is discontinued, so that looks like it's out of the question. . .
