1930's Antique EASY Automatic Washing Machine (RARE!)

This little ole washer is located down in Nawlins (that is New Orleans to you Yankees). Seller will not ship so winning bidder must go and get it. Just watch out for those gators!

I am skeptical about that "Automatic" washer is as old as the thirties. If I remember correctly the ones with the lever handles for controls like that one, opposed to the center slide controls, are the earlier ones though.

There's nothing automatic about an Easy spin-dryer, its a spinner version of a wringer washer. The seller is doesn't understand what they have, its probably from the late 40's or early 50's.

Yup - mid to late 40's. I had this same model for a while, the pump was siezed (very common with Easys) and it was in just about the same overall shape. We played with one GregM has in MA back in February - his is nearly mint and lots of fun but like any conventional washer - a ton of work!

"Technological wonder" Yes, a motor attached to a gearbox.

Automatic? I don't think so. In fact, the later Easy Spindriers had electric controls instead of the "stickshift" controls found on this one.

Actually they were not electric controls. They were knobs that mechanically moved the pump levers and I believe, the trans spin control and were located by the timer, which, by the way, was a spring operated mechanical timer.

I don't think these were meant to be criticisms. It might very well be someones dream machine. It can never hurt to inform the group of your finds on Ebay and elsewhere.

Considering it's in someone's garage, and even as we speak, our record breaking heat and humidity we're having right now is eating this machine away.

Wow, my mistake. All this time I thought they were electric, especially with the "on" lights above the controls!

Is there anything that uses a spring-wound timer today?

Now you got me second guessing myself. It is either a mechanical or a simple electric timer that does nothing but sound a bell or just shuts the motor off when it times out.
