In the stage play, there were very few props and the line worked. When she walked out on the stage with the lighted candle, I told my theater companion, "Ice storm." Whoever was in charge of continuity on the picture did not catch that. It could have easily been changed to coffee pot. That was not the only mistake. Ice storms are not accompanied by the snow storm wind sounds they used. If it's sleet, you hear that or you hear the sound of the rain falling, branches breaking and transformers shorting and blowing. The electrical distribution equipment going really lights up the night sky with big green flashes, sort of a southern version of the Aurora Borealis. Ice storms were one thing I was very glad to leave back in Atlanta. The line in the play gave me great pleasure because it told me that Alfred Uhry's real life character on whom the story was based had an electric stove.
