Actually, it's a 1946, '47, or '48 model.

There were no jukeboxes made in 1943. I'm thinking it's probably a P147 (1947).

Maybe some sad footage of jukebox abuse, but what a movie! My favorite scene is the one where Mansfield, dressed in a very tight outfit, walks by the milkman who is holding a proper glass bottle of milk and as he catches a good look at her chest he first clenches the bottle tightly and then as he continues to look the milk starts boiling over and out the top of the bottle! Both "The Girl Can't Help It" and "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter" showcase Mansfield's comedic talent and I really can't understand why she never got the credit she deserved.

Mansfield was also a big influence on John Waters when he created the persona of Divine with Glenn Milstead. Waters often referred to Mansfield as the "late, great Jayne Mansfiled". There is a wonderful line from him about the first time he saw initial footage of Divine as the hooker in "Mondo Trasho", where she is picked up by the john in the '59 Caddy convertible. According to Waters "I was thrilled beyond belief . . . Divine made Jayne Mansfield look like Grace Kelly!"

Back to jukeboxes: Little Richard's version of the theme song from "The Girl Can't Help It" has got to be one of the most classic jukebox songs ever, although I think it should be played on a mid '50s machine with lots of chrome . . .

Hydraulique, Jayne's real talents were largely ignored, she allowed herself to degenerate into a joke, and made a lot of bad decisions based on emotion. It's a miracle she lived as long as she did. Unfortunately, in 1956, those jukeboxes were just junk. Not to us, though. Love that record, "The Girl Can't Help It" that played in "Pink Flamingos" when Divine went strolling down a Baltimore street.

LOL

"Ah yes, a "Trashcan" model!"

I was going to say that it looked like the one robot from StarWars. (not that I saw the movies but I saw the action figures being given away at mcdonalds at the time) Is it R2D2?

really though, these jukeboxes had alot of moving parts in them. The mechanics to make these work must have been impressive.

The trashcans aren't too complex. You want COMPLEX, you should see a V or another Tormat era Seeburg. That mechanism is a true work of art.

The AMI's with the search units were pretty complex, too
