Boston Globe has a feature on the 100th anniversary of the Chevrolet brand. Included is this photo of a 1948 pickup truck. Scanning through the other photos, I also found a 1936 Suburban.

Can't beat the Suburbans--I've driven Suburbans for over 30 years.

A handsome '48 pickup and that Suburban is beautiful.

The days of shiny two-tone paint on my '50 GMC ended around 45 years ago.  No sense in doing anything about it since I have no garage space for it and still use it for hauling, so I just tell myself that the beyond oxidized finish provides character.

i think in'50 216 was the base engine with the 235 as an option. In 1985,helping
my grandpa,a 1950 3/4 ton chevy was "my" truck-they nicknamed it "the guppy" on
the farm.
Beware the radiator fans on these old chevy 6s-i found one with fatigue cracks
near the hub where the two halves are spot welded together...the waterpump on the
engine with cracked fan had some bearing play,so the fan might have been wobbling
and gyroscopic action causing the blades to flex near the hub and develop cracks..
I like the sound of these old "stovebolt"chevys!
