matt, i did not post

the kelvinator yet. all i did was change the pump seal and fire it up. but you are right, it deserves a bit of the spotlight at some point in the future here, it's a great old d&m machine! once i get some time here i will take the pump and motor off to check for any sump rust and do a full post.

Matt,

You should NOT put oil on the cables. If you try anything, Graphite powder would be the preferred product to use to lubricate the cables.

The Lid Opening cable is on the left. When the lid is closed, are you able, with your fingers to pull the left side of the lever down (moving the cable down), and open the lid by hand? Or is the cable frozen?

To date, I've not tackled this same problem of the lid not opening on my DE748A16. I have some information yet to read on the adjustment process of the lid mechanism, prior to tackling the project. It's just taken a low priority for now.

NOW would be a great time to locate a copy of the G.E. PRODUCT MAN books from 1947, 1948, 1949 and 1950. These are a compilation of the monthly service bulletins (see photo).

Perhaps we can talk by phone to discuss this all in greater detail. Email me at [email protected]

Thanks mike, I will definately take you up on your generous offer. Fortunately, the cams are not bound, they both operate, they just are not being activated by the door. I know some people like to restore to original condition, but this machine can be redone to work off of a modern timer, intake valve, and drain, and presto it is good to go. I don't know if I'll do this, but if there are no parts available for this machine (and I'm assuming there is not) I might have to. Or do some fabrication to keep it "original." Thank you, Thank you for all the info. This is a great site. Where else can you instantly find experts on such a rare machine. matt

Matt,

You are quite welcome. Since the cables do work, it would help me perhaps speak directly with you to fully understand the problem.

Mike

Dave, Thanks.

I only saw the GE Product Man Books that another collector had. I would love to have my own set of them. They covered the major appliances. When I was pouring through them, I don't remember seeing any information on Fans.

seems like a beautiful old machine to me

what a shame to tear it up for parts! i would hold on to it as it is, like you say your job is to mate people with appliances, someone will surely grab that nostalgic old impeller machine!

patience my friend, patience!

Paging everythingold

Your profile said you have 5 dishwashers ? What do you have & which is your favorite & dailey driver ? Thank You Mike

Is there such a dishwasher ?

Mobile Maid impeller wash roto rack ? That would have to be my all time favorite. WOW Mike

there is a modern maid

impeller dishwasher, i just bought it off matt (everythingold)
this year and found a new impeller for it from larry at modern parts house, cleveland. i rebuilt it and it sounds like a cyclone inside!

it is a d&m model and i even have it listed in the d&m repair manual i also bought from larry. it has a top rotorack and is very quaint looking.

Please let me clarify......

With my apologies to Matt, please let me clarify.

The Sears Kenmore "600" Automatic Portable Dishwasher With Exclusive Roto-Rack Two Level Wash that I acquired 3rd hand in 1970 was an impeller machine with a middle spray tube.

Here are a couple of scans of the Owner's manual. On this first page is a diagram of the two-level wash action.

I have the same dishwasher!

Hi! I have this same dishwasher and am looking for a new home for it. We bought an older home and everything was maintained wonderfully. I have not had any luck finding someone to buy this, and I REALLY do not want to scrap it. It was still running until we took it out, and I have the intact manual to go with it. Any advice on how best to sell this? Ebay, perhaps?
