1950 Magnovox AM radio and 2-spd phono

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

That is a beautiful Magnavox, Greg! What is the model name? I found a Magnavox "Georgian" for $95.00 in black lacquer with Oriental painting on it. It is AM FM with a 78 rpm phono. I collect Magnavox anything from the 1950's to early '70's. I found a 1951 blonde oak "Belvedere" with incorrect changer for $155.00. Yours seems to have FM too.

How much do you want for it, Greg?

It looks like AM only to me, 63getelevision.

Are the 2 speeds 78 & 33? I think that points to this set being a 1948 model, maybe '49.

Also...how do you get the doors open if there are no knobs on the front?

Thanks.

I could still be wrong, but the dial says KC and MC on the bottom right, I think I can make out the words "Short Wave" under the bubble looking thing on the top center of the dial, maybe short wave instead of FM.

bubble looking thing

That's the green eye tuning strength indicator.

It's AM & Shortwave. I suppose it could be a '50 as well. From what I've seen Magnavox was a little slower in modernizing than some others, like Philco, or Zenith.

I'd not say it's a terribly valuable or particularly desirable piece though - probably worth about 50 to 100 bucks tops.

I guess you pull the door open from the right side and it opens up 180 degrees and folds over the left side of the cabinet.

Hi Bundtboy, yes the door opens from the right, and the whole door opens again and butts up against the left side. I thought that was a tuning eye, had one on my '58 Magnavox Continental. The writing shows through the bubble on Greg's for some strange reason.

so you know what you're dealing with

I wrote greg and asked him about this machine and he replied

FU.

Thanks.
