1950s Frigidaire Range Light

Hi, just got this cool Frigidaire stove and am trying to get the dashboard fluorescent light to work. Thought I would upgrade to a LED bulb. Am trying to locate the ballast so I can remove/bypass it, and i came across this transistor-looking thing that has something to do with the dashboard light. Is it possible to bypass it? As it is, neither a traditional nor the LED bulb will turn on.

Any suggestions?

Florescent Lamp Ballast

Hi Todd, the ballast is not what you have pictured, that is a capacitor, leave it there.

 

The ballast is lower on the back of the range, it is almost as large as a pound of butter and is in a black steel housing.

Replacement Ballast?

We took the ballast out. It’s a 30 watt ballast for fluorescent light. Can we bypass and connect the wires to adapt a LED light for the stove?
