1950s Wizard Stove

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The '68 Galaxie is mine, I took the last pics at my house. There was some neat stuff at the sale, but there was a lot of absolute junk to sort through to find a few good things. I also bought a large oxygen tank to use at the clinic and a marble top end table with light up base - needs rewiring.

Hi David, CONGRATS on the stove and the dryer.   I never knew Western Auto had a full line of appliances (beyond washers), but then that's a bit before I knew about all this stuff.

Can you post a photo with the oven and storage drawers open please?

Thanks!
Kevin

Kevin, it might be awhile before I get those pics - the stove is shoe-horned into the garage and we are having a big rain day with street flooding and everything.

RevvinKevin: More pics

Here are some more pics. First, the oven and big drawer open. I have already started to restore the stove, the top is off, I just set it back on for the pictures. I am rewiring the light fixture and getting a quote for the chrome trim. The burner grates and drip pans will be reporcelained. The burners were originally painted and I will paint them with high temp automotive exhaust paint, mainly because I cannot remove the aluminum tips that the pilot flash tubes rest on and I'm afraid that they will not hold up to the reporcelain temperatures (Aluminum melting point is 1220 degrees F [I think], temp to porcelain enamel something is about 1200 -1500 degrees F (I think). I'm asking the porcelain shop, but they will probably advise against attempting to enamel the burners).

One other thing that I got at the estate sale: an old marble top end table with light up base. I rewired it this week, the base is lit in the picture but you can't see it due to the camera flash. The table is not crooked - I didn't have the camera straight.

Nice range and it looks so hevty.  The table is beautiful and goes right with your home.

Interestingly, this 40" stove is the lightest stove I have: Lighter than my 35" O&M and the 38" Estate, and definitely lighter than the Chambers Imperial.

Well, I sent the burner grates and drip pans off to Independence Porcelain Enamel to be re-enameled, it will cost $21.50 a piece. I will probably send the oven bottom too, but will wait until next month. Quote to rechrome the backsplash trim is $200-235, will wait until next month.
