cool!-a jukebox is one thing that is missing from my vintage electronics hoard :)A local antiques shop years ago had a 1938(forget the brand)juke box-it still worked decent, but the needle was badly worn and it ate every record that was played on it-black dust all over.BTW,do yyou have"mockingbird hill"on that-I associate that song with the early 1950s."rock around the clock"would be another good "period"selection on that '53 seeburg :)

Nice box!

That reminds me of the one in the Gypsy Grill Cafeteria in Carrollton, KY; a restaurant we used to stop in on our way to Mississippi when I was a kid. They had the wall boxes to make your selection.

The place has been closed for many years. I went past it Thursday, and the building looks about the same, but has some type of store in it. Wish it was still a restaurant.

Beautiful Seeburg jukebox!!There was one like that at a swap shop I go to in Chocowinty,NC-When I saw it,had a "sold" tag on it-the unit was in perfect shape. It was sold for $1500!!The shop has a Seeburg 200 that is a basket of parts-the cabinet and speakers are intact-he wants again-$1500.I offered much less since the unit was in parts and "as is"He "butchered" other boxes by taking out the original equipment and putting in a remote controlled Sony CD player stereo system-only thing orig then was the case.TOLD HIM BAD IDEA!!!Collectors and others want the real thing. The boxes came from a former route operator that the shop owner told me-he went crazy, killed himself and left the boxes to a relative-the relative sold them to the swap shop. The only boxes left are 70's ones-where the changer-TT system isn't visible.I merely wanted a jukebox-45RPM,visible changer-to play some record I got from a radio station-45's mostly 60's and early 70's songs.Would have loved having the box be my "DJ"to play and store the records in.But this is ongoing-sure wish I could get a box for 50 bucks! would be my salvation.Everybody wants "Hi end Hi Fi" prices for them-even if the box doesn't work.I could fix it myself-just sell it to me at a lower price-fine.I and a freind back as a Hi school project fixed up a 30 or 40s style 78 rpm Wurlitzer box for a shop-the Canyon Lake trade center.I rebuit the amp-pretty much a generic push-pull 6L6 amp-freind had to replace the motor in the TT mechanism. The shop owner fixed up the case and lights-it was beautiful when done both of us got A grades from the school and shop operator. The unit worked flawlessly and looked nice-at that time it sold for $300-now a box like that restored would sell for thousands.I used to have an amp from a Seeburg box-bought it from another person-sold it to someone else that had a Seeburg box he was fixing up.

That is beautiful! I have a Rockola Tempo II from 1960, needs electronic and mechanical restoration. Had a place near Corpus Christie give a rough estimate of $500 to do this work - sounds pretty reasonable to me, now just have to get this 400lb thing 300 miles down the road to him.

The Seeburg HF100G is an awesome jukebox.  We had one in the pizza shop where I worked 30 years ago and it absolutley rocked!

A problem Seeburg owners are having today is availability of quality replacment styli.  Hopefullly someone will step up to the plate and make some good ones again.

had that exact same box

I've been a jukebox nut for as long as I can remember. The first one I owned was a 1958 Wurlitzer which I did not like. Even though the record playing mechanism was visible I always thought it looked like a cigarette machine...no pizzazz but it was cheap. I graduated to the Seeburg 100G a few years later. I jazzed it up by making a color wheel for the single fluorescent light using a clock motor and a clear plastic cylinder which I covered with colored cellophane. The "belt" on the cylinder would break a lot but you got a new one every day wrapped around the newspaper. I sold the Seeburg and the "Wall-O-Matic" box 11 years ago before I moved to Palm Springs thinking "that thing will never look right in my fancy schmancy new house." That lasted about 3 years until I got the "box bug" again. Now I have 2 jukes, a 1948 Wurlitzer 1100 that plays 78's and what I call my fake Wurlitzer 1015 made by Antique Appratus in the 1980's (now Rockola) that plays CD's. They both have their place in my "2 is my limit" collection.

There are many accessories and parts available for the Seeburg 100G. I always wanted to get these inexpensive "45" decals that go on either side of the record carriage. They had faded on mine.

Stereo Cartridge

Thanks for the comments. One non-original feature is the Seeburg Stereo Cartridge that is on this Juke Box. Tom Umphrey, who I bought it from, installed it. He had serviced it also and it ran perfectly for many years. This cartridge had replacement styli available at Radio Shack, the last time I bought them they were $12.95 each. Originally the units had sapphire tips which do not last as long. And are probably hard to find.

The rebuild (2007) included re-coning the speaker, new capacitors, overhaul of the selection unit and a thorough cleaning and lubrication of everything. Just before I made the video, the cancel solenoid started sticking. I figured out what it was and tinkered with it by looking through the Service Manual that I have. These units are actually pretty complicated and probably could use regular service. And like any mechanical device, need to be used regularly.

The cartridge looks like the red one in the picture.

I would abso-flippin-loutely use it regularly. What a doll!

We know of a pair of (brand name not in the memory banks at the time) wooden 78 jukes. He wants too much for them in untested condition, and more than we'd be willing to pay in working condition (for a "toy").

I'd love to have one someday..................
