1954 frigidaire range

why can't i find anyone willing to rewire my 1954 frigidaire electric range. i have one burner out and one burner on it's way out....thanks,mom

Hi, and welcome, Momcat. You probably can find someone but, you`ll have to do some hunting. I would talk to your local used appliance dealers and see if they Know of one. Most of us here just look for information on how to do the job ourselves. Just part of the fun of owning and using a vintage appliance. And a 1954 Frigidaire is definitly a range to have!

Find an electrician looking for a side job. Most appliance dealers won't touch it,because of labor cost's,among other things.It does have the wiring diagram,right? Maybe Beth knows someone.She's in your area.

had a appliance repair guy look at the range this week. he suggested new switches but wouldn't guarantee that it would work. he said the switches were not made anymore. i guess i got my $55 worth of info anyway. i am not giving up on this stove even if i have to live with 1-1/2 burners! i'll hunt around some more but i won't rule out doing it myself if i can find the parts.i wonder if the parts are interchangable with another model or i could jerry rig something. i do have the manufactures book that came with the stove. any good books you can suggest on how to do this? i'm a great one for instructions and pictures.......love, mom

I know of two companies that restore vintage appliances, you might contact them and see if they can be of assistance. Neither is in your immediate area, but both have websites. Be aware that if you chose to have either work on your range, shipping the appliance would be a major cost. The websites are www.antiqueappliances.com and www.monitortop.com. bethann, called bill keller, vogel's and broadripple appliance and none could help. had kerr refridgeration come out and look at it but they wouldn't guarantee their work and said the parts were not available anymore. i'll call around some more........thanks mom
