This machine was left behind in an old farm house that's been abandoned for forty years, but the property has a new owner and they'd like this sold and on its way. I've emailed the seller and she assures me that the washer is very dirty on the outside, but nut rusted. The inside is said to be very clean. I asked for some photos and these are what she sent, so you can judge for yourself. They were a little to dark to be very useful at first, but Kevin(revvinkevin)doctored them up for me so I could post them.(thank you Kevin) These old Frigidaire's are very scarce, so hopefully someone here will step up and save this one. Of course if nobody's willing to claim it, I'll have no choice but to drive all the way out to Colorado myself, and then my wife will kill me and my death will be on your collective hands. All that's needed to prevent this tragedy is for one person to do the right thing and save this forgotten little relic of America's past.

Irresistible!

David, your exhortation is so original and funny that I'd drive there myself just to acknowledge such an amazing appeal.

That's the double rinser, as the dial indicates. I think these babies were made from 50-52, and the float-over rinses were available beginning in 53&4, looking exactly like the model pictured except for the differences in the rinse cycle. Someone who knows will have the precise dates. It's a great machine. Again, I love your plea.

Great machine...

I hope this gets snapped up quickly. I have the '54 version with the single overflow rinse and love it. Whoever gets this will have a lifetime of fun with it.

The 1140 rpm spin should be experienced by all!

Thanks for finding and sharing this with everyone David.

Thanks Guys!

And you're very welcome. I just wish this was closer so I could get it myself. :-(

With the exception of the 1-18, I love the vintage Frigidaire's. I grew up with one(its matching dryer, a DDG61, is still in my parents garage)so naturally they remind me of home. Kevin has one of these and it's a real hoot to watch. Now that Patrick has posted a photo of his pristine machine to inspire everyone, with any luck someone will feel inspired to go get this!

This is definitely a WO-65 which would be a 1950 or 1951 as it has the 2 rinses. Also this is not the original pulsator. Hope someone grabs this machine. I have a 1954 - WO-65-2 and I love using it. Looking forward to seeing who gets it.

WO-65

This is a rare find, to me it looks like the agitator is original but missing the rubber part of the lower pulsator cone so all you have is the metal reinforcement.  I already have the WO-65-2 which I converted to the double rinse by changing the timer and timer dial and between the 1140 RPM spin and two deep rinses it rinses all traces of bleach out of a load.

I love it for doing white loads that need a good cleaning and complete rinsing. Mine currently needs a new motor centrifugal switch so these dirty loads have been going in the Calypso the last 5 years and it does at least as good a job on loads like this.

This would make a great addition to your growing collection Scott.

Agree with "Combo Johnny" LOL

It is the original agi but missing the manta fin.

Fun to see the mini-club of us who have and love our W0-65-2's.

Good luck guys. Here's a pick of mine with the extremely complex hi-tech illumination modification which took days to install.

I so love it when we have fun here.

Maybe I can start chugging boutbon tommorow. Right now I'm high on blueberries like a fat bear under the tree. Thanks Keith for the good laugh.

LOL

I'm sure that if you call a smith or someone who can cut the panel and put a glass and maybe also a chromed frame over there you you could install a littlest neon inside and you could make more "good looking" as it really came from the factory with a working light...
I personally think that the neon does not look that good this way and almost "ruin" the charm and beautifulness of the machine, hope you don't get offended but I'm always used to say my opinion and I have to say this even if you probaly don't care much about, honestly I would appreciate if someone would give me his opinionabout something I did, good or bad it will be, anyway of course that's my opinion and what's matter is that it likes to you rather than me!
Enjoy it!
Congrats on ur find!

Congrat's Travis

One more saved from the scrap yard!

Want to hear and see all about it!

Michael. Your machine is very handsome. Do you have to be careful when opening the lid? (lid hitting the light)

So Happy for you travis

This is a wonderful machine.....
Congrats! Another wonderful machine saved from the scrap yard!
Probably Mickey now will hate me because I "criticized" his light, but I hope it is not so,it was just a personal opinion to take just as it comes, as I said what's matter is that it likes to him and I'm happy if he is happy with!
Anyway you all are so fortunate to have found and own these machines, they are really nice!
Enjoy them!
So since I foolishly congratulated only Mickey before I of course feel the need to extend my congratulations and compliments to all the others also, and now of course to Travis.

Good luck Travis!
Let us know when it comes!

Congraudlations Travis

Very Cool Washer, hope you can get it running without too much trouble.

I always loved the little neon light on these early models, it helped make the modern industrial look of this machine and besides it matches the light on my matching dryer LOL, I always vote for more lights, Yay

Travis & Stan& David

So glad you got it. These babes have no outer tub. They actually roar during the spin out. Can't wait for you to hear it and jump for joy. Fabulous. And thanks DAVEY JONES for the Herculean effort to save a gem.

Thank you Stan. It was a joke. The light was placed on many machines when I wanted "lighted controls;" it even fits nicely atop the Visimatic Wringer.

Here it is illuminating a suds-return[this post was last edited: 8/1/2012-12:21]

But then one day Ben posted his CI 63 Multi

which IS illuminated and I thought hey, maybe I could open up my non-illuminated 62 CD Multi and install the light. SO I DID. Alas, now I have no more portable illuminator, but a permanently illuminated Multimatic. YAY. Finally Stan, this was a real modification; the other, a HOAX as that hilarious deceased comedian would say in his SNL skits as a talk show host. Can't remember his name, a great big blond, and side-splittingly funny.

The Telling

When he did that skit as a commentator in black framed glasses wearing a suit making quotations marks in the air with his fingers " I frighten children..... I don't know how to wipe properly..... I don't have sex with women--don't know how that works....." etc.... it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Back to the matter at hand:

The water hurls against the cabinet, yeah, right against the square metal box, a roaring waterfall. The inner tub came in 55, I believe. All the WO's from 50 to 54 were built without an outer tub. Seeing pictures of the unimatic mechanism on the bottom with the wash tub on top is quite a sight. Robert actually cut away the metal replacing it with fake glass to show the water throw and the suds build up in the cabinet on his Super Unimatic 2. I searched for the video, but was able to locate photos only. There are so many new people who haven't seen this miracle, maybe someone will locate the vid and link it.
